CHEAP GREASY GRACE

By John Ollis

You will never find me in my blogs naming and blaming politicians for their ungodly unbiblical policies, other than encouraging believers to pray for them, and against their policies. We need to fight more vertically than horizontally as far as I am concerned.
You will also neve find me condemning Bible teachers either, by name for their either heretical or extreme unbalanced teaching/s, but will always encourage believers to do what the Bereans did in Acts 17:11, to “search the scriptures daily to find out whether these things were so”. However famous the teacher is, this must always be the criteria we follow, whatever you read in my blogs don’t simply accept what I say, but SEARCH THE SCRIPTURES.
We know Church history is a picture of God restoring truth to His Church, And He hasn’t finished yet, historically there was always 2 reactions (as there is today).

  1. Total rejection of the teaching
  1. Because of being closed minded
  2. Refusal to search the scriptures
  3. Inability to change
  1. Going overboard and extreme
  1. And overemphasising  the doctrine
  2. Even rejecting other Biblical truth An ugly heresy that has raised its head in every generation since the first century is what is called Antinomianism (or what I call “cheap greasy grace). This teaching so stresses Christian freedom from the condemnation of the law that it underemphasises the need of the believer to confess sins daily and to pursue sanctification (holy living) earnestly. It may even fail to teach that sanctification inevitably follows justification (being born again).
  3. WE MUST SEARCH THE SCRIPTURES

I am so thankful that the Holy Spirit brings fresh emphasis on particular awesome truths in the Word of God from time to time. Many of us are products of to varying degrees churches that often majored on legalism, and gave us a whole list of Do’s and don’ts, and we need to be reminded of our glorious inheritance in Christ and the liberty and victory that it gives us.
I read this statement recently that I think spells out so beautifully what Grace is:
GRACE
GRACE IS NOT SIMPLY LENIENCY WHEN WE HAVE SINNED. GRACE IS THE ENABLING GIFT OF GOD NOT TO SIN. GRACE IS POWER, NOT JUST PARDON.  John Piper
The reality is we do fail the Lord and sin, and God’s grace is such “If we confess our sin he is faithful (true to His name, His Nature, His promises) to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness”. BUT His grace is more than sufficient for us to live above sin.
Let us not believe a lie, and abuse the grace of God, but daily lay hold of His grace and live and walk and move in victory and holiness in power and in purity.
This is the sort of person, and the sort of church that unbelievers need to see. May we all have a greater understand of God’s grace to His people embrace it, and walk in it.
This blog may sadly upset some people, All I say is SEARCH THE SCRIPTURES. I also trust it will be a revelation to many of God’s people that they can live above sin and walk clean before the Lord.
