A FURTHER GENTLE REMINDER

By John Ollis

Many of my readers may not have heard of Sinclair Ferguson, he is a Theologian (born 1948) and is a professor at Redeemer Seminary in Dallas Texas U.S.A. He has  made this statement:

REPENTANCE

IS THE CHARACTERISTIC OF THE WHOLE LIFE, NOT THE ACTION OF A SINGLE EVENT.

Your response, may be he is on about repentance again, and yes I am, as this message is neglected  in these days of “easy-believe-ism” and “cheap grace” teaching. Repentance must become a lifestyle, not that we have or develop a “sin consciousness” but need to recognise the depravity of our hearts, and the bias towards sin that is still in our lives post conversion.

I thank God every day for the awesome ACCESS I have to be able to instantly  come to the throne of grace, and find grace and help in my time of need. Thankfully there are many times I do not need to seek God’s grace because of needs, but just want to go “within the veil”  and spend time loving and worshipping our God. I am always conscious of the “pit” from whence I was dug, and the ACCESS I have is not and never will be because of anything I have done or will do, it is all because of Jesus.

So let me encourage you again this morning to seriously consider the constant need to change our MINDS, OUR ATTITUDES, OUR AFFECTIONS,OUR DIRECTION and go God’s way Amen.
