GLEANINGS FROM ROMANS 2

By John Ollis

There has been numerous comments and responses from my blog from Romans chapter one (ministry must be a 2 way street.). Now I want to highlight some thoughts from chapter 2.
I love verse four “Or do you despise the riches of His goodness, forbearance and longsuffering, not knowing that THE GOODNESS OF GOD LEADS YOU TO REPENTANCE”.NKJV,
Or did you think that because He is such a nice God, he’d let you off the hook? Better think this one through from the beginning, God is kind, but He is not soft, IN KINDNESS HE TAKES US FIRMLY BY THE HAND AND LEADS US INTO A RADICAL LIFE-CHANGE MESSAGE
We can’t turn repentance on and off like a tap, it is a work of the Holy Spirit that causes us to be overwhelmed by the goodness of God, and we realise we are such vile sinners that deserve nothing but the lowest hell, and as the Message paraphrase puts it, He takes us by the hand, and leads us into a radical life-change. For when a person is truly born again, his life is turned upside down, and there is a desire in our renewed heart to want to love God and commune with Him and seek to live for Him.
Verse 1o tells or there is no partiality with God, in other words He has no favourites. It is the will of God that none should perish, so He shows His goodness and love to everyone, but sadly some are so blind, they cannot see it. So let us not think we are so special, God saw in eternity past, that our eyes would be open to see His goodness, and because of His foreknowledge, He then predestined us  to be conformed to the image of Jesus (Romans 8:29).
It begins with repentance, but soon moves on to spiritual surgery to CIRCUMCISION OF THE HEART verse 29.May the Lord help us to respond to His surgery, for the end result is always GOOD.
God has an eternal plan to have a family just like His son Jesus, I sure want to be part of that family do you ?
