BEING IN THE CENTRE OF GOD'S WILL

By John Ollis

We left our home state of Victoria in October 1970 to commence a new Pastoral ministry in the state of New South Wales. We remained in that state for nearly 39 years (except for the two years in Singapore). We always expected sometime to return to our home state, and through a remarkable set of circumstances we returned permanently in April 2009. We regularly remind ourselves of those circumstances and declare we are in the will of God.
I guess thinking about these facts I wrote a FB post yesterday:

THE ONLY PLACE TO BE IS IN THE CENTRE OF GOD”S WILL EVERY DAY

This doesn’t mean that  every day will be a bed of roses, or that there will never be negative situations in your life, or that there won’t be people who will be like sandpiper to you. Let us remember that “all things are working together for good to them that love God and are called according to His purpose”. Rom. 8:28.
As a young person (many years ago) I often sang a chorus from a Salvation Army song

JUST WHERE HE NEEDS ME, MY LORD HAS PLACED ME.

JUST WHERE HE NEEDS ME, THERE WOULD I BE.

AND SINCE HE FOUND ME, BY LOVE HE’S BOUND ME

TO SERVE HIM JOYFULLY

To be in the centre of God’s will is not just for our benefit,  and neither are we to think when life is not a bed of roses, we are out of the  will of God,  but what is happening in our world is all for a purpose, either to do a work of grace in us, (to respond and not react) or for us to be a blessing to others.
So often when things are not rosy, we start to look for alternatives, but remember this is where the Lord has placed us. We should NEVER even contemplate change unless there are distinctly unbiblical things going on around us. Let me remind you of the “Harbour light teaching,” and only consider moving if these four things line up
1.The peace of God
2. What does the Word of God say
3. Circumstances
4. Godly counsel
I remember an old Pastor  friend say to me one day (many years ago):

it is impossible to get out of the will of God unless you choose too.

There is a lot of truth in that statement,  let us commit each day and our lives each day into the Lord’s hands, and we declare:

THE BEST PLACE TO BE IS IN THE CENTRE OF GOD’S WILL
