HAVE YOU CHECKED INTO BOOT CAMP YET? (8)
In the introduction to this series, I said I would write about, (1) knowing our enemy, (2) knowing what is in the armoury for us, and how to use it, and (3) The Believer’s authority.
These three awesome truths cannot simply be taught in a class, but someone must walk with us, so that these truths go from information to revelation, that there is that 18 inch drop from head to heart, only then will these truths begin to work in the Believer’s life.
There is the legal term “Power of Attorney” which is a document that many people sign (especially in relation to an aged relative, and in relation to Last Wills & LastTestaments of people). It gives power and authority to another person to act on behalf of someone else
The New Believer must learn and KNOW by revelation that we have been given POWER OF ATTORNEY to use the NAME OF JESUS in every situation, especially when it comes to our warfare against the evil one. The devil hates the name of Jesus, I don’t think the Sons of Sceva understood this as the demon said ” Jesus we know, but who are you ????”
One piece of armour that Paul does not specifically mention in Ephesians 6:11-18 is this truth that we have been delegated the authority to use the name of Jesus. I mentioned James 4:7 in another context in this series, not only can we resist the devil using the Sword of the Spirit (the rhema Word), but also using THE NAME OF JESUS against him, all the power and authority of heaven is behind that Name, that is why the devil hates that name so much.
Paul tells us in Colossians 4:17 NKJV whatever you do in word or deed, do all in the Name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him. Whatever of course means EVERYTHING doesn’t it? So let all we say and do be in that Name that is above every name.
Paul tells us in Ephesians 5:20 NKJV Giving thanks always for all things to God the Father in the Name of our Lord Jesus Christ, submitting to one another in the fear of God. We must learn to give thanks ALWAYS in the NAME OF THE LORD JESUS CHRIST, and then Paul adds SUBMIT to one another, an interesting combination, we have to work on.
Just one final verse relating to the authority we have IN THE NAME OF THE LORD JESUS CHRIST, Jesus reminds us in Mark 16:17-18 NKJV And these signs will follow those who believe: In My name they will cast out demons; (In my Name) they will speak with new tongues; (In my name) they will take up serpents;(In my Name) if they drink anything deadly, it will by no means hurt them; (In my Name)they will lay hands on the sick, and they will recover.” What a mandate, what a Commission, not in our name or our denomination’s name but IN THE NAME OF THE LORD JESUS CHRIST.
May every Believer receive this revelation in Boot Camp that they have an authority delegated to them, and may they learn to use it in every aspect of their lives.
