DO YOU TRAVEL ON YOUR KNEES?

By John Ollis

When my regular overseas travelling days were coming to an end I got concerned that my Ministry days were concluding, and what would I do with my time. After some months of praying the Lord led me into Intercessory Ministry. Having had the privilege of ministering in 25 different nations, there were many friends and ministries that I had connected to over the years, and it wasn’t long before I had developed a list of 100’s of people and ministries that I could regularly pray for. I had the thought one day I may not be able to physically visit these places anymore, but I can visit “in the Spirit” and many times the Holy Spirit has caused me to visualise these people and places. Just this morning I came across this poem that expresses what has become my experience. Before I share it with you, can I remind you that a very important part of daily prayer must be INTERCESSION, and so we don’t forget it is good to prepare a list or lists. I have a dear Ministry friend now retired who has me on his Thursday list, and I sure appreciate it.

Let me remind you of the JOY of prayer

JESUS first, YOURSELF last, and OTHERS (INTERCESSION) in between

There is of course Intercession and the Ministry of Intercession, I believe every Christian should spend time in Intercession EVERY DAY and fulfil what is recorded in Ezekiel 22:30 NKJV So I sought for a man among them who would make a wall, and stand in the gap before Me on behalf of the land, that I should not destroy it; but I found no one. In this instance God could not find anyone. Every Believer is called TO STAND IN THE GAP on behalf of others, and some are called to make it a Ministry of Intercession. If you are blessed with time on your hands particularly because you are now in your senior years, would you be open to making yourself available to God to make Intercession a Ministry.

If ever there was a time in history we needed Intercessors it is NOW. I am sure you watch the news on tv daily, and know of the sad state our world is in. We are facing national elections here in my country in a matter of weeks, and there are many challenges. Israel, India & Thailand have all had to go to the ballot box in recent days, all these nations have tremendous challenges. I believe a “spirit of lawlessness” is operating in our word, and then there are constant wars and rumours of wars, and then throw in climate change. I am not going to debate whether it is man made or not, but it sure is a fact.

We sure need to know what the Word of God says about these matters, and be convinced that: The effective, fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much. James 5:16 NKJV The MESSAGE says The prayer of a person living right with God is something powerful to be reckoned with.

James also tells us in 4:2 NKJV you do not have because you do not ask.

Do we limit what James 4:7 NKJV says, Therefore submit to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you. Of course Janes is telling us that as we live the surrendered life, and understand there has been some weapons delegated to us like:

The Authority we have “In the Name of Jesus

The power of confessing the Word (Rhema) which is the Sword of the Spirit.

the Blood of Christ is to protect as well as cleanse.

The power of praying in tongues in Intercession

There is much teaching on Spiritual warfare against our common enemy (I sure don’t understand it all) but we know he wantsa to wreck God’s work everywhere.

So this blog is a timely word about the need for every Believer to become an Intercessor and start travelling the world on our knees. Here is the poem.

Last night I took a journey, to a land across the seas

I didn’t go by ship or plane, I travelled on my knees

I saw so many people there, in bondage in their sins,

and Jesus told me I should go, that there were souls to win.

But I said “Jesus I can’t go to lands across the seas”

He answered quickly, “Yes you can by travelling on your knees.

He said “You pray, I’ll meet the need, you call I will hear,

It’s up to you to be concerned for lost souls far and near”.

And so I did,I knelt in prayer, gave up some hours of ease,

And with the Saviour by my side I travelled on my knees.

As I prayed on I saw souls saved, and twisted persons healed

I saw God’s workers strength renewed, while labouring on the field.

I said “Yes Lord I take the job, your heart I want to please,

I’ll heed your call and swiftly go by travelling on my knees.

I pray you hear the call and go travelling on your knees.
