THE POWER OF THE WORD OF GOD
I wonder if any Believer fully appreciates the Word of God for what it truly is. It is probably beyond our full comprehension to fully understand just how powerful the Word of God truly is. We all know off by heart John 3:16, but do we know 2 Timothy 3:16-17 NKJV All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work.
AMP N.T. Every Scripture is God-breathed (given by His inspiration) and profitable for instruction, for reproof and conviction of sin, for correction of error and discipline in obedience, [and] for training in righteousness (in holy living, in conformity to God’s will in thought, purpose, and action),
So that the man of God may be complete and proficient, well fitted and thoroughly equipped for every good work.
There is no Book in the world like the Bible it is 100% unique in every way. Look at the verses above:
- GOD LIVES IN THE BIBLE, His very breath is on every word and page.
- Consequently, is it the DEPOSITORY OF ALL TRUTH, and that it is:
- TOTALLY PROFITABLE for (a) TEACHING
- PERFECT FOR CORRECTION & REBUKE
- From which the Holy Spirit can CONVICT & CHALLENGE US
- It is the only true source of TRUTH THAT WILL LEAD US OUT OF ERROR
- If we IMMERSE OURSELVES in the Word of God Paul says we will be COMPLETE, & PROFICIENT WELL FITTED AND EQUIPPED for every good work.
No other Book comes close or even attempts to do what the Bible is able to do.
I am reminded of the words of a chorus we sang many many years ago:
Every promise in the book
Every promise in the book is mine
Every chapter, every verse and every line
All are blessings of His love divine.
So, I need to ask you and ask myself afresh today, WHAT DOES THE WORD OF GOD REALLY MEAN TO YOU?
- Is it simply a text book you use to prove a point?
- Is it your daily bread & drink?
- Have you learnt to hear from God daily, and to let it produce faith in your life Romans 10:17.
- Do you let the Word challenge, correct, and reprove you?
- Is the Bible leading you into ALL TRUTH John 16:13
- Are you letting it equip you to be a Man or Woman of God
The list could go on and on. I loved to teach in my Bible College Ministry days the subject BIBLIOLOGY, it is an exciting subject, that I have come to personally experience and know in my own life more and more, but it still needs to increase, I want to be IMMERSED in God’s Word, and so LET THE WORD OF GOD WORK IN ME ,IN EVERY POSSIBLE WAY.
I want to highlight just two verses today, and pray with you, that WE embrace these truth and let them work out in total reality in our lives.
John 8:36 NKJV Therefore if the Son makes you free, you shall be free indeed.
AMP N.T. So if the Son liberates you [makes you free men], then you are really and unquestionably free.
MESSAGE So if the Son sets you free, you are free through and through
These are the words of the Lord Jesus, was He teasing, or joking NO NO NO,
This is a truth that must cease just being information but is REVELATION, we are not free some of the time but ALL THE TIME, it is my inheritance received through the death and resurrection of Jesus on the Cross, Lord help to walk in this liberty and freedom.
2 Cor. 2:14A NKJV Now thanks be to God who always leads us in triumph in Christ
AMP But thanks be to God, Who in Christ always leads us in triumph [as trophies of Christ’s victory]
MESSAGE In the Messiah, in Christ, God leads us from place to place in one perpetual victory parade.
One does not need a degree in Theology that ALWAYS & PERPETUAL means just that, we can have constant complete TRIUMPH & VICTORY as a child of God.
Again, let this truth have an 18 inch drop from your head to your heart, WE HAVE BEEN SET FREE TO WALK IN VICTORY. It was all accomplished when Jesus died on the Cross, and broke the power of sin.
Now we have a couple of enemies, the evil one will whisper in your ear, and say you are not free, you cannot walk in victory. Let me remind you of James 4:7 NKJV Therefore submit to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you. The more you walk in surrender, the more authority you have to RESIST the enemy AND HE MUST RUN AWAY.
Let your declaration be: GOD SAID IT, I BELIEVE IT, THAT SETTLES IT, SO I WILL EXPERIENCE IT.
Our second potential enemy is those around us, they themselves are not walking in victory, so they will speak negatively and try and discourage you, and say it is not possible, EITHER THE WORD OF GOD IS TRUE OR IT ISN’T. Hear the Apostle Paul in Romans 3:4 NKJV Indeed, let God be true but every man a liar.
My prayer for all of us is that our understanding of the power and veracity of the Word of God will increase MORE AND MORE, and that we experience that power more than ever in our lives Amen.
