THE FRUIT OF BEING YOLKED TO JESUS.

By John Ollis

I wrote to the leadership of my local church recently, requesting that I step back a little because of the aging process, and give more time to Intercession and writing. I received an sms from them quoting Matthew 11:28-29 (Message) which says: “Are you tired? Worn out? Burned out on religion? Come to me. Get away with me and you’ll recover your life. I’ll show you how to take a real rest. Walk with me and work with me—watch how I do it. Learn the unforced rhythms of grace. I won’t lay anything heavy or ill-fitting on you. We know the KJV version very well (if we are that vintage). Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls.

Yes, I am physically tired (it seems almost most of the time) but my spirit has never been so alive in all my years as a Believer. So I am definitely NOT burnt out on religion, I have learnt (and still learning) to seek to stay “UNDER THE SPOUT WHERE THE GLORY COMES OUT”. I know from almost 67 years of Christian experience that the ONLY PLACE TO BE is being yolked to the Lord Jesus Christ. I have learnt that if you don’t come apart and rest awhile YOU WILL COME APART.

I so appreciated receiving this Scripture verse message as a reminder, and I made sure I thanked the person (and the Lord) for this word. I have written a few times recently of the various attributes of God, and in conclusion I want to highlight God’s omnipresence today, God is everywhere present ALL THE TIME, and as a Believer there a is that quiet mmmm. in our spirit, ( I can’t describe it any better, it is better “felt” than telt”) knowing God is indwelling me, I shout with King David (Psalm 16:11NKJV) In Your presence is fullness of joy; at your right hand are pleasures for evermore. Just knowing God is Presiding in me is like an anchor to my soul. There are also many times in my experience, and it seems to be even more of late, that I am aware of tangible manifest presence of God in my life. Please do not think I am suggesting I am holier or more spiritual than you my reader, I trust it is your experience too. We often are so aware of His manifest presence in church, when God comes down and “dwells” in the praises of His people. I so enjoy in my waking life to so often be aware of His manifest presence. There is no better place to be.Thank you Jesus.
