WHAT IS YOUR MINDSET?

By John Ollis

There is a verse that I have not really fully understood until recently, but with the added advantage of the various translations I now have access too, I have been challenged to ask myself, how closely do I fulfil this verse. It is Philippians 2:5 NKJV Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus
You sure need to read the context and other translations to get what Paul was challenging us to have.

Some translations use the word MINDSET. (instead of mind).

Jesus had the mindset of a SERVANT. verse 6 He took on the form of a servant. This is surely a challenge to us to always have this sort of mindset. Jesus constantly thought of others, more than Himself, servanthood speaks of HUMILITY, this is so contrary to our sinful nature which more speaks of pride, and that we are better than others.

Some translations use the word ATTITUDE, (instead of mind) it is not something we “put” on to please others or hoping people will think more of us, IT MUST BECOME A LIFESTYLE.

I would suggest Paul is saying that JESUS IS THE PERFECT EXAMPLE, and we must learn to make every aspect of His life the attitude and mindset of our lives.

I will conclude by saying Jesus had A KINGDOM MINDSET, it was never about Him but about the advancement of the Kingdom of God.

Is this our attitude as expressed in Matthew 6:33 NKJV But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.

This has to be our attitude:

JESUS and GOD’S KINGDOM FIRST

YOURSELF LAST

OTHERS IN BETWEEN.
