ANOTHER ASPECT OF THE UNIQUENESS OF THE WORD OF GOD.

By John Ollis

I wrote a bog a few days ago entitled “A glorious word from Genesis to you and to me”, in it I highlighted the UNIQUENESS of the Bible, I planned to write another blog on the same topic today, and came across this statement that I thought I would commence this blog with.

15 BENEFITS OF READING (MEDITATING) THE BIBLE.

1.God’s word leads us to Salvation.

2. God’s instructions for life are housed in His word.

3. We gain wisdom from it.

4. Scriptures releases our chains and lifts our burdens.

5. God’s word brings us joy.

6. The Bible gives ud hope.

7. It reminds us of His promises.

8. His word enables us to battle and defeat the devil.

9. Your faith will be strengthed.

10. You will enjoy a greater fellowship with Him (just as spending time with any family member or friend.

11. Your prayers will be heard. Praying with and over scripture is incredibly effective and sometimes gives us the words when our heart and mind fail us.

12. You will develop spiritually.

13. You will mature in the things of God. Learning more about Him and His commands will help us mature as believers.

14. You will be more prosperous and successful as you learn what He has taught and how to conduct yourself and your business and daily affairs.

15. You will learn to fear God

I want to highlight another INIQUE ASPECT about the Word of God, that is highlighted in a prophecy given by Jeremiah in his book chapter 23:29. I am going to list a number of translations as there are like a diamond various facets of truth.

NKJV Is not My word like a fire?” says the Lord,
“And like a hammer that breaks the rock in pieces?

AMP O.T. Is not My word like fire [that consumes all that cannot endure the test]? says the Lord, and like a hammer that breaks in pieces the rock [of most STUBBORN RESISTANCE]?

MESSAGE Bible Isn’t my MESSAGE like fire?” God’s Decree.
“Isn’t it like a sledgehammer busting a rock?

The Bible has been described as “God’s love letter to His people” and I guess when you love someone you must SPEAK THE TRUTH, even when it hurts and challenges, so we must respond to God’s message just as much as when it encourages us.

This verse tells us the God’s Word is like a FIRE, and just as a fire purifies precious metals and removes the dross and impurities, so the Word of God has a MAJOR SANCTIFYING MINISTRY, and we must learn to respond to the fire. He will give us His grace to embrace the fire.

This verse also describes God’s Word as HAMMER, I trust you have felt God basically hit you over head with His Word to challenge you regarding an area in your life that had to change. The Amplified speaks of STUBBORN RESISTANCE, one of those things we inherited from Adam that is part of our depraved deceitful heart. Again God’s grace is available to respond and not react to the hammer.

May we come to the place where we realise we cannot win, our selfish way IS NOT GOD’S WAY, and the sooner we realise it and stop fighting, and SIMPLY LAY DOWN OUR LIFE, and say NOT MY WILL BUT THINE BE DONE, the quicker the operation is over..

I am so glad that this is a major aspect of the ministry of the Word of God, and although we may not enjoy it, it can save us so much grief and frustration if we recognise it and respond to it.

This is another aspect of the uniqueness of the Word of God, let us recognise it, and thank God for it amen.
