TAKING INVENTORY AND LOOKING AHEAD TO 2020

By John Ollis

I wrote yesterday that we had a well planned relaxing cruise, the only planned event was catching up with my half sister. We would step off the ship briefly to make use of the free wifi, apart from going to eat in one of the dining rooms most of the time we stayed in our stateroom, and rested. So I had plenty of time to sit or lay down to pray and read.. Some may say how boring, but we have visited NZ many times both by ship and car hire, so it was simply REST.
The major thing I feel the Lord said to me was TO TAKE INVENTORY.
I gave some thought to all that has transpired in 2019,  and I want to declare it was an awesome God blessed year in every way, Physically, emotionally mentally and spiritually.
I prepared a list of questions some years ago, that I seek to look at and answer each year these are not in any particular order.

  1. What is the level of my passion for the Lord’s House and His people?
  2. Am I currently seeking to win people to Christ, both family and others?
  3. What is the size of my dream?
  4. Am I falling in love with Jesus more and more?
  5. Am I changing? Is it more of Him and less of me?

Of course, there have been some challenges and failures, but overall I can give a positive response to every one of my questions. I am not going to give you in depth replies to my questions, I only want to boast in the Lord Jesus Christ.
The reality is that we start to slow down as we age, and there are many things we cannot do, or cannot do as well anymore,
So what of 2020? no one knows what tomorrow will bring, Jesus could break through the clouds any day, we sure need to live as if He could return today 1 John 3:2-3 AMP N.T.Beloved, we are [even here and] now God’s children; it is not yet disclosed (made clear) what we shall be [hereafter], but we know that when He comes and is manifested, we shall [as God’s children] resemble and be like Him, for we shall see Him just as He [really] is.
And everyone who has this hope [resting] on Him cleanses (purifies) himself just as He is pure (chaste, undefiled, guiltless).
Or the Lord may call us home and promote us to glory, but while we have breath we must seek to do the revealed will of God today.

SO THIS IS MY GOALS FOR 2020

1.I have some loved ones, who are not born again, and I am going intercede for them more and believe the Lord will draw them to Himself. There are others including past students who are not walking with the Lord, I am claiming their return to the Lord.
2.The Lord has shown me much truth this year, and I want to see my hunger for God’s Word increasing and that I will have ears to hear what the Holy Spirit wants to say to me.
3.I would like to return to Asia at least one more time to teach the Word, it may just be a dream, but I will keep asking until I clearly hear the Lord say yes or no.
4.I want to see more young men Biblically Discipled and Mentored.
5.I want to see my Intercessory Ministry deepen in 2020.
6.I want to grow in grace and in the knowledge of the Lord Jesus Christ.
In simple terms I want to be:
An INSTRUMENT in the Lord hands
A VESSEL of honour carrying His glory
CHANNEL sharing God’s blessing and glory.
REFLECTOR of the Lord and His glory amen.
So during this holiday period, may I encourage you to sit down, and take inventory of 2019, and give some prayerful thought to what you want to see accomplished in 2020 and may you seek in every way to excel for the Lord, and may this coming year be beyond your wildest dreams,
Let me leave you with Paul’s prayer for the Ephesians.  Eph. 3:20 NKJV Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us, to Him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus to all generations, forever and ever. Amen.
