DO YOU KNOW BECAUSE YOU KNOW?

By John Ollis

In recent decades here in Australia, it was quite common when you saw a friend your greeting  was often “HI BILL, WHAT DO YOU KNOW? It’s not so common these days, I guess more often these days we would simply say” Hi Bill how are you”?
I posted a simple question in FB yesterday DO YOU KNOW BECAUSE YOU KNOW THAT YOU ARE BORN AGAIN? The reality is that it is one thing to know mentally about a matter and quite another to know by (spiritual) revelation about something.
This thought was sparked off in my  mind, as a couple of days ago as I was praying, I was just so conscious that God was listening, and His presence was just so real. It is not always that way with me, but we are not to go and live on our feelings but have that revelation (rhema word) THAT GOD SAID IT (IN HIS WORD) i BELIEVE IT AND THAT SETTLES IT. But when we have these experiences it is such an encouragement.
The reason for this blog, is that I want to encourage you to know important spiritual truths by revelation and not just give mental assent to something.
For example, I have heard Evangelists say “Now you have prayed that prayer (the Sinner’s prayer) you are a Christian”. I can’t see how ONE human being can tell another person that Their sins are forgiven (and they are on the way to heaven), as that knowledge and assurance is a work of the Holy Spirit, and a person either has assurance or HE doesn’t. Some further counselling may assist so that there is that 12 inch drop from head to heart.
Let me highlight this truth from a couple of Scriptures. Paul tells us in Romans 8:28-30 NKJand we KNOW that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose. For whom He foreknew, He also predestined to be conformed to the image of His Son, that He might be the firstborn among many brethren. Moreover whom He predestined, these He also called; whom He called, these He also justified; and whom He justified, these He also glorified.
unless we have a revelation of THE SOVEREIGNTY OF GOD, when “the bad things happen to good people” we start asking “why” and can collapse in a heap and “give up”.
That is why Paul could say in 2 Tim. 1:12 NKJV For this reason I also suffer these things; nevertheless I am not ashamed, for I KNOW whom I have believed and am persuaded that He is able to keep what I have committed to Him until that Day.
This is not something Paul studied and learnt in his solo Bible School HE KNEW BY REVELATION.
like Peter he could say, he knew he had been bought (redeemed) out of the slave market of sin (1Peter 1:18 NKJV) KNOWING that you were not redeemed with corruptible things, like silver or gold. but (the ransom payment is by the blood of the Lord Jesus Christ. Hallelujah
The Apostle John used the words know and knowing much in his letters. Can I suggest you Do a personal study in John’s letters.

We have too many people sitting in church pews (including Evangelical and Pentecostal churches) who “hope” they are saved. I hadn’t intended to mention this but doesn’t this again highlight the totally essential need that every person who makes a “confession of faith” be BIBLICALLY DISCIPLED.

LORD HELP US TO GET THIS RIGHHT AMEN
