A GREATER HUNGER FOR GOD (Lenten 29)

By John Ollis

My last blog was about the potential selfishness we can develop during this Lenten Journey, but we can deal with that with regular ACTS OF MERCY.
I trust there is a growing realisation in your heart during this Journey that WITHOUT HIM I CAN DO NOTHING.  Paul  writing as a Believer in Rom. 7:23-25 PASSION But I discern another power operating in my humanity, waging a war against the moral principles of my conscience and bringing me into captivity as a prisoner to the “law” of sin—this unwelcome intruder in my humanity. What an agonizing situation I am in! So who has the power to rescue this miserable man from the unwelcome intruder of sin and death? I give all my thanks to God, for his mighty power has finally provided a way out through our Lord Jesus, the Anointed One! So if left to myself, the flesh is aligned with the law of sin, but now my renewed mind is fixed on and submitted to God’s righteous principles.
Paul was very aware of his sinful nature, but got the revelation that through the death and resurrection of Jesus, his sinful nature was dealt with, and as he learned to LIVE THE CRUCIFIED LIFE AND WALK IN THE POWER OF THE RESURRECTION he could live a victorious HOLY life.
The results that flow from our Lenten Journey, should be a grater DESIRE to:

  • SPEND TIME IN THE WORD OF GOD
  •  SPEND TIME ALONE WITH THE LOVER OF OUR SOUL AND WORSHIPPING HIM
  •  ASKING THE LORD TO INCREASE OUR HUNGER FOR HIM
  •  SEEKING TO PRESENT OUR BODY CONSTANTLY TO THE LORD (Rom.12:1)
  •  CONFESSING REGULARLY OUR GLORIOUS INHERITANCE IN CHRIST

MAY THIS BE OUR EXPERIENCE
