LETTING THE WORD WORK (Lenten 31)

By John Ollis

Our Lenten Journey is all about taking the opportunity to co-operate with the Lord more and more and to LET THE WORD WORK more and more in our lives.
Most Believers really do not have an understanding of how powerful the Word of God is or can be in a  Believer’s life. It all began for us with the Holy Spirit taking the Word and planting it in our life, and every step of our spiritual progress relates to our obedience to the Word as it is revealed to us.
Peter tells us that our Salvation took place when the seed  (sperma) of the Word of God is planted in the womb of our heart, and this Word LIVES AND ABIDES FOREVER. 1 Peter 1:23 AMP. NT You have been regenerated (born again), not from a mortal origin (seed, sperm), but from one that is immortal by the ever living and lasting Word of God. The MESSAGE says our new life is not like your old life. Your old birth came from mortal sperm; your new birth comes from God’s living Word. Just think: a life conceived by God himself!
I have written numerous times that now you are a born again Believer  NEVER open your Bible until you should prepare your heart, by :

  • Confession
  • Repentance
  • Surrender
  • Thanksgiving
  •  Praise
  •  Worship

Now the heart is ready and open to receive the Word Psalm 119:130 AMP N.T. The ENTRANCE and UNFOLDING of Your words give light; their unfolding gives understanding (discernment and comprehension) to the simple.
So, as we make time to REFLECT on the Word of God during this Lenten Journey, we can experience powerful change taking place in our lives as we LET THE WORD WORK IN US.
Let us spend some time today meditating on Col. 3:16. I will set it out in various translations.
NKJV Let the word of Christ DWELL in you richly in all wisdom, teaching and ADMONISHING one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord
AMP. N.T.Let the word [spoken by] Christ (the Messiah) have its HOME [in your hearts and minds] and dwell in you in [all its] richness, as you teach and admonish and tTRAIN one another in all insight and intelligence and wisdom [in spiritual things, and as you sing] psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, making melody to God with [His] grace in your hearts.
NLT Let the message about Christ, in all its richness, fill your lives. TEACH and COUNSEL each other with all the wisdom he gives. Sing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs to God with thankful hearts
MESSAGE Let the Word of Christ—the Message—HAVE THE RUN OF THE HOUSE. Give it plenty of room in your lives. INSTRUCT AND DIRECT one another using good common sense. And sing, sing your hearts out to God!
PASSION Let the word of Christ live in you richly, flooding you with all wisdom. Apply the Scriptures as you teach and instruct one another with the Psalms, and with festive praises, and with prophetic songs given to you spontaneously by the Spirit, so sing to God with all your hearts!
We prepare our hearts so the Word can take up permanent dwelling in our hearts, not just  putting some information in our minds.
We must not be selfish and  keep this truth and revelation to ourselves, but must admonish, teach and train others (Discipleship & Mentoring).
The Word should have such an impact on our lives, that we want to SING AND SHOUT FROM THE ROOFTOPS.
This will cause our hunger for the Word to ever increase, as we continue to experience the WORD WORKING IN US.
