BORN TO REPRODUCE (Lenten 41)
Have you heard of a man called Dawson Trotman, an American, who founded an organization that has spanned the world, called “The Navigators”. Its major thrust is Discipleship and Mentoring. Dawson wrote numerous books/booklets the most famous is BORN TO REPRODUCE. Just as naturally when our body matures there comes a drive within us to reproduce “after our own kind”, This should also automatically happen in the spiritual realm.
The Bible clearly teaches, that as we grow in grace and in the knowledge of the Lord Jesus Christ there should come a drive within us to spiritually reproduce. I began to think about this in relation to my last blog and David Wilkinson’s prophecy, There are so many Believers that have never been discipled, (those prayerless Christians who don’t open their Bibles,) plus if we are going to see and end time revival EVERY BELIEVER HAS GOT TO GET COMMITTED TO SPIRITUALLY REPRODUCING.
- Do you have a burden for the lost?
- Have you witnessed to someone recently?
- Have you had the joy of leading someone to Christ?
- If you have who is Discipling them?
Sadly, no one ever told me about Discipling, nor was I ever discipled, so my Christian life especially as a teenager was like the Australian Stock Exchange, (up today, down tomorrow). Despite that God placed a calling on my life for Ministry. Even though I couldn’t articulate it, there was a burden on my heart to help new Believers. In my early 30’s (say 45 years ago) I received a invitation to pastor a church in one of our capital cities, we saw the church grow from 40 to 200,, we had close to 50 young men come to Christ and added to the congregation. At least 3 of those men are to this day full time in Christian Ministry, just yesterday one of them Messaged me to say thanks (again) for discipling him. My response was in those days it was simply a burden, I wish I had understood then what I know now about Discipleship.
After 7 years we moved to another regional city, and saw the church grow from 40 to 400, this time I introduced a “Timothy Class” to handle all the young men God gave us.
Then again after 7 years, we were invited to join the Faculty of a National Bible College, (where we served for 11 years) and for nearly 30 years in total have had the privilege of teaching and mentoring literally thousands of young men (not only in Australia but in at least 25 another nations especially Asia andEastern Europe). I have not written the above to spotlight myself in any way, but to say, EVERY BELIEVER IS CALLED TO BE A DISCIPLEMAKER. Matt. 28:18-20 NKJV And Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, “All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Amen.
Your church environment may have never encouraged you to do it, but you are BORN TO REPRODUCE. It is not too late to start.
If you have been called into ministry as a Pastor and or Teacher, there is that added responsibility to MENTOR. Paul says to his spiritual son Timothy in 2 Tim.2:2 AMP N.T. And the [instructions] which you have heard from me along with many witnesses, transmit and entrust [as a deposit] to reliable and faithful men who will be competent and qualified to teach others also.
NKJV And the things that you have heard from me among many witnesses, commit these to faithful men who will be able to teach others also.
PASSION And all that you’ve learned from me, confirmed by the integrity of my life, pass on to faithful leaders who are competent to teach the congregations the same revelation.
Again, if you are called to Ministry you are BORN TO REPRODUCE.
Again, only yesterday I received a FB “Friend Request” from a student from at least 25 years ago, I accepted his request, and quickly got a response. There were some awesome Bible Teachers on the Faculty at the same time I was there, he said how much he loved and appreciated them, but there was something different about my ministry. I responded and said they are all unique Eph. 4:11 Bible Teachers, I am very much simply a Pastor/Teacher, I personally stand in awe of these men , their gifting and ability is very special, but my Fathering/Mentoring ministry had impacted his life, I GIVE GOD ALL THE GLORY FOR THIS.
May as a result of your Lenten Journey this year, a fresh understanding has come to you regrading this essential truth.
I am praying the Holy Spirit will take this blog, and speak to hearts in a very special way, and that every believer will get a revelation that they are BORN TO REPRODUCE and therefore a burden and a vision to Disciple new Believers.
That any Ministries who read this blog, will also get a vision and burden and a revelation that they are BORN TO REPRODUCE.
