RESSURECTION QUICKENING (Lenten 47)

By John Ollis

Tomorrow is RESSURECTION SUNDAY, and brings Holy Week and our Lenten Journey to an end. There are two aspects of truth I want to share with you relative to Christ’s resurrection, so I am writing one blog about it today and another tomorrow.

The verse I want to highlight today is Rom. 8:11 KJV But if the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, He that raised up Christ from the dead shall also QUICKEN your mortal bodies by his Spirit that dwelleth in you.

Peter expresses it this way in relation to Jesus 1 Peter 3:18 KJV For Christ also hath once suffered for sins, the just for the unjust, that he might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh, but QUICKENED by the Spirit

MESSAGE It stands to reason, doesn’t it, that if the alive-and-present God who raised Jesus from the dead moves into your life, he’ll do the same thing in you that he did in Jesus, bringing you alive to himself? When God lives and breathes in you (and he does, as surely as he did in Jesus), you are delivered from that dead life. With his Spirit living in you, your body will be as alive as Christ’s!

The Apostle Paul tells us that the Holy Spirit was intimately involved in Christ being raised from the dead. The KJV uses the word QUICKEN, other translations uses other  words REVIVE, or RESTORE, these words are also all used  relative  to our spiritual resurrection too.

QUICKEN is a word that has gone out of daily usage, but was once regularly used. One is illustration for example is a pregnant woman would experience  what was called “the quickening” around the 20th week of her pregnancy, which meant she would feel for the first time her unborn child moving in her womb. Until then, she may have thought she was just putting on weight or had a lot of gas in her stomach.

Paul uses the same word in relation to humans who were spiritually dead in  Eph. 2:1 & 2:5 KJV !And you hath he QUICKENED, who were dead in trespasses and sins;

verse 5 But God, who is rich in mercy, for his great love wherewith he loved us, Even when we were dead in sins, hath QUICKENED us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved.

We all remember that day when we were born again and the Holy Spirit came into our life, we were REVIVED and RESTORED BACK TO LIFE and relationship with God,

THIS WAS JUST THE BEGINNING OF GOD’S QUICKENING MINISTRY IN OUR LIVES.

The more we learn to surrender to God and let the Holy Spirit continue to keep “filling the house” (our body) the more we will experience His QUICKENING PRESENCE in our lives. This will include the Holy Spirit QUICKENING the Word of God to us and giving us revelation and increase our hunger for Him.

As we are coming to the end of our Lenten Journey, let us make the commitment, that by the grace of God, I not only want the Holy Spirit resident in my life, but that he is PRESIDENT 24/7 Amen.

MAY WE KNOW MORE AND MORE OF THE HOLY SPIRIT’S QUICKENING IN OUR LIVES.
