LET US THANK GOD FOR HIS GRACE

By John Ollis

Most of us know the simple definition of GRACE that it is the unmerited mercy and favour of God. Every Believer is a recipient of the GRACE OF GOD that brought them to Salvation, Paul tells us in Rom.3:24 NKJV being justified freely by His GRACE through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus. What a glorious unforgettable day that was.

Again Paul declares to his spiritual son Titus 2:11 NKJV For the grace of God that brings salvation has appeared to all men, Hallelujah.

I AM SURE YOU HAVE HEARD THE SAYING

THE DEVIL REMINDS ME OF MY PAST (even my recent past) I TELL HIM GOD HAS DROPPED THE CHARGES.   THAT IS THE GRACE OF GOD.

What a glorious Salvation was planned by the Father in eternity past the accomplished by the Son through His death & resurrection, and brought to us by the Holy Spirit.

THAT WAS BUT THE START OF GOD’S POURING HIS GRACE ON US.

There is a glorious promise in James 4:6 NKJV But HE GIVES MORE GRACE. Therefore He says: “God resists the proud BUT GIVES GRACE TO THE HUMBLE”.

I don’t know about you, but, I WANT MORE AND MORE OF GOD’S GRACE IN MY LIFE.

The only requirement James suggests is HUMILITY, I don’t know about you, but like Paul I still feel I am a wretch and can do nothing without the Lord, and that sure helps me stay small and insignificant, and sure not important in my own eyes.

I also am very conscience that I do not want to abuse or take for granted His grace.

We have been given a glorious invitation in Hebrews 4:16 NKJV to constantly come to that place where God’s grace flows from. It is one of my favourite Scriptures, that I often thank God for, we read: Let us therefore come BOLDLY to the throne of GRACE, that we may obtain mercy and find GRACE to help in time of need.

MESSAGE So let’s walk right up to him and get what he is so ready to give. Take the MERCY, accept the help.

PASSION So now we come freely and boldly to where love is enthroned, to receive MERCY’S KISS and discover the GRACE we urgently need to strengthen us in our time of weakness.

The very fact we have ACCESS into the very Throne-Room of God is GRACE DEMONSTRATED and as we throw ourselves at the Lord’s feet, God’s mercy begins to flow to meet our need.

Peter tells us in 2 Pet. 3:18 NKJV But GROW in the GRACE and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

Other translations say:

Increase in spiritual strength and understanding.

Intimacy.

I want MORE GRACE and I am sure you do too, so what do we do?

  • Spend more time in the presence of God and develop a deeper INTIMACY with Him
  • Spend more time READING & MEDITATING on  the Word of God
  • Learn to live the SURRENDERED AND SPIRIT-FILLED LIFE

MAY WE ALL EXPERIENCE MORE OF THE GRACE LIFE AMEN

In 1889 Herbert Booth wrote a hymn that became a classic in The Salvation Army, the chorus says:
Grace there is my every debt to pay,
Blood to wash my every sin away,
Pow’r to keep me sinless day by day,
For me, for me!

We all remember this great old hymn too I am sure:

1. He giveth more grace when the burdens grow greater,
He sendeth more strength when the labors increase;
To added afflictions He addeth His mercy,
To multiplied trials, His multiplied peace.
2. When we have exhausted our store of endurance,
When our strength has failed ere the day is half done,
When we reach the end of our hoarded resources
Our Father’s full giving is only begun.
3. Fear not that thy need shall exceed His provision,
Our God ever yearns His resources to share;
Lean hard on the arm everlasting, availing;
The Father both thee and thy load will upbear.
4. His love has no limits, His grace has no measure,
His power no boundary known unto men;
For out of His infinite riches in Jesus
He giveth, and giveth, and giveth again
