A CALL TO BE A WORSHIPPER

By John Ollis

I have written many times, and we all know it is true, that the Christian life is first and foremost about BEING, and secondarily it is about doing.

There is no doubt a person who is truly born again wants to serve the Lord and be busy fulfilling His ministry Commands, yet there is something within us all, I guess our sinful nature, that we feel we must be busy, as if we need to gain “brownie points” and help to “pay” for our Salvation.

LET US NEVER FORGET OUR DEBT HAS BEEN PAID, GOD HAS DROPPED THE CHARGES, JESUS TOOK OUR PUNISHMENT AND WE HAVE BEEN PARDONED,

Of course, the fruit of being born again, is we want to serve and please the Lord, but it seems IN the majority of cases many Believers spend more time doing than being.

As I was praying this morning, I was reminded of Jesus’ words to the Samaritan woman in John 4:23-24 NKJV

But the hour is coming, and now is, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth; for the Father is SEEKING such to worship Him. God is Spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth.”

AMP. N.T. A time will come, however, indeed it is already here, when the true (genuine) worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and in truth (reality); for the Father is seeking just such people as these as His worshipers.
God is a Spirit (a spiritual Being) and those who worship Him must worship Him in spirit and in truth (reality).

PASSION From here on, worshiping the Father will not be a matter of the right place but with the right heart. For God is a Spirit, and he longs to have sincere worshipers who worship and adore him in the realm of the Spirit and in truth.”

MESSAGE But the time is coming—it has, in fact, come—when what you’re called will not matter and where you go to worship will not matter.
“It’s who you are and the way you live that count before God. Your worship must engage your spirit in the pursuit of truth. That’s the kind of people the Father is out looking for: those who are simply and honestly themselves before him in their worship. God is sheer being itself—Spirit. Those who worship him must do it out of their very being, their spirits, their true selves, in adoration.”

The Greek word for “worship: is proskuneo, which is translated to kiss, to bow, to prostrate and to reverence. This to me speaks of INTIMACY, and a deepening LOVE RELATIONSHIP, and we know the principle that the more time we spend with a peron, the more we are influenced and effected by them.

There is no doubt the more you get to know the Lord the more you want to spend time with Him, can I remind you afresh today, we need to prepare our hearts to seek the Lord, and there are some essential keys.

  1. Confession & Repentance
  2. Continued Surrender
  3. Thanksgiving
  4. Praise
  5. WORSHIP
  6. Intercession
  7. Petition
  8. Listening

My experience is that as I have spent time doing 1-4, I become overwhelmed by the goodness and grace of God, and it is then so easy to spend time in WORSHIP, which can include using your “Prayer Language” as we run out of words in our language to express our love and adoration for the Lord.

I want to encourage to be WORSHIPPER, it will never be time wasted, and the results will always be positive, and life changing.
