THE UNIQUENESS OF THE BIBLE

By John Ollis

We may not be able to articulate it, but we know in our heart and mind that the Bible is unique in EVERY WAY, and we could enumerate many times the impact of a verse or verses on our lives as we have read and meditated on a particular scripture.

I read this statement recently, and thought I would put it in this blog.

THE BIBLE: This BOOK contains the mind of God , the state of man, the way of Salvation, the doom of sinners, and the happiness of believers.

Its doctrines are holy, its precepts are binding. its histories are true, and its decisions are immutable. read it to be wise, believe it to be safe, and practice it to be holy. It contains light to direct you, food to support you,and comfort to cheer you.

It is the traveller’s map, the pilgrim’s staff, the pilot’s compass, the soldier’s sword, and the Christian’s charter, here Paradise is restored, Heaven opened, and the gates of Hell disclosed.

CHRIST IS IT’S GRAND SUBJECT, our good its design, and the glory of God its end.

It should fill the memory, rule the heart, and guide the feet.

Read it slowly, frequently, prayerfully. It is a mine of wealth, a paradise of glory, and a river of pleasure, it is given you in life, will be opened at the judgement, and be remembered for ever.

It involves the highest responsibility, will reward the greatest labour, and condemn all who trifle with its sacred contents.

SCRIPTURE CANNOT BE BROKEN -JESUS.

This statement sure spells out well, what the Bible is, now look at what Paul has to to say in 2 Tim. 3:16

NKJV All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work.

PASSION Every Scripture has been written by the Holy Spirit, the breath of God. It will empower you by its instruction and correction, giving you the strength to take the right direction and lead you deeper into the path of godliness.

MESSAGE Every part of Scripture is God-breathed and useful one way or another—showing us truth, exposing our rebellion, correcting our mistakes, training us to live God’s way.

Inspire and inspiration means GOD BREATHED, the very breath of God is in every verse in the Bible.

I am not going to comment on any of the points Paul makes, as they are all so well explain themselves, may we let the Word of God so work in us.

I feel I need to repeat something I wrote recently, I do not believe we can treat the Bible like a “lucky dip” or like the old fashioned “promise boxes”, and simply take a verse out of context and say God has spoken to us.

That is why we must learn to spend quality time in the Word of God daily, and not only read it, but MEDITATE (chew it over) look at the verses in various translations, and ask the Holy Spirit to “turn the light on” and for God to quicken His Word to us, that the Logos (written word) becomes a Rhema word to us, and we know personally God’s Word has spoken to us.

I wrote some time ago a blog on Psalm 91:15 NKJV

He shall call upon Me, and I will answer him;
I will be with him in trouble;
I will deliver him and honor him.
With long life I will satisfy him,
And show him My salvation.

I was going through a very difficult time physically, and the more I meditated upon it, the more it came alive to me personally, and I began to confess it, and constantly thank God for this glorious promise, and I can testify, God truly delivered me, and I am feeling better than I have done for a considerable period of time, I choose to give all the honour to the Lord.

So I simply conclude not only reminding myself, but my readers also, may we LET THE WORD EORK IN US. amen
