THE FRUIT OFMIND RENEWAL

By John Ollis

Many people have said over the centuries that if they eat a certain food item before they go to sleep, they are sure to have dreams. I sure don’t know whether this can be proven medically. It would seem most if not all people dream often and not just because they ate something late at night..

DO YOU HAVE WEIRD AND EVEN SINFUL DREAMS?

I am not a Psychologist, but I understand that they are taught and believe that dreams flow out of the subconscious mind, some Christian Psychologists, say it is more the soul area of man that dreams flow from, which is more both the mind, emotions and will.

As a human being we know the Bible teaches us that we have inherited a sinful nature (Jer. 17:9), and through the course of our lives we experience literally millions of situations (both good, bad and sinful) that can leave a permanent impression on our lives and in our minds.

As Christians we seek to maintain an attitude of repentance because the reality is we do fail the Lord and come short of the mark, and we are eternally grateful GOD IS ALWAYS TRUE TO HIS NAME, HIS NATURE AND HIS PROMISES TO CLEANSE AND FORGIVE US 1 John 1:9.

Even though we are forgiven when we confess our sins, the memory (and often effects) of our past sins are not expunged but would seem to drop down to our subconscious mind, and when we least expect it, can impact our dreams , as well as our waking life.

So, is there anything we can do about it? I do not know or want to suggest that what I write now is the complete answer, but an important KEY is found in Rom. 12:2 NKJV And do not be conformed to this world, but be TRANSFORMED by the RENEWING of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.

AMP. N.T. Do not be conformed to this world (this age), [fashioned after and adapted to its external, superficial customs], but be transformed (changed) by the [entire] renewal of your mind [by its new ideals and its new attitude], so that you may prove [for yourselves] what is the good and acceptable and perfect will of God, even the thing which is good and acceptable and perfect [in His sight for you].

MESSAGE Don’t become so well-adjusted to your culture that you fit into it without even thinking. Instead, fix your attention on God. You’ll be changed from the inside out. Readily recognize what he wants from you, and quickly respond to it. Unlike the culture around you, always dragging you down to its level of immaturity, God brings the best out of you, develops well-formed maturity in you.

The big question is HOW DO YOU RENEW YOUR MIND?

I heard a Preacher say probably 50 years ago, that the more we fill our mind WITH THE WORD OF GOD, we are giving ever less room in our conscious and subconscious minds for the “rubbish” from the past, and the more we spend time READING AND MEDITATING ON THE WORD OF GOD, we are pushing out that junk and filling our minds with that which is described in Phil. 4:8 NKJV Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy—meditate on these things.

MESSAGE Summing it all up, friends, I’d say you’ll do best by filling your minds and meditating on things true, noble, reputable, authentic, compelling, gracious—the best, not the worst; the beautiful, not the ugly; things to praise, not things to curse.

PASSION So keep your thoughts continually fixed on all that is authentic and real, honorable and admirable, beautiful and respectful, pure and holy, merciful and kind. And fasten your thoughts on every glorious work of God, praising him always.

Let me encourage you to slowly read (and meditate) Psalm 119, see how often the Psalmist uses WORD, LAW, PRECEPTS, COMMANDMENTS, STATUTES,TESTIMONIES,WAYS,TRUTH. Read it in various translations, let the Holy Spirit ILLUMINATE IT TO YOU, I am sure you will experience some “rubbish” being flung out as you fill and saturate your mind with His Word.

We know the art of meditation has almost been lost in our crazy busy world, but I want to encourage my readers today (AND MYSELF) I must spend more and more time in the Word of God, not only reading it, but chewing over it, looking at various translations, referring to your Concordance, and asking the Holy Spirit to turn the light on, I would suggest the more the Word of God is QUICKENED to us, the greater impact it will have on our conscious and sub conscious minds.

In my own life I want to lift the bar higher in every area of my Christian life and walk with God. The human response often is, for example dreams are normal (even weird and sinful ones) and inwardly reacting negatively is just being “human”. I want to be more like Jesus in EVERY AREA of my life whether I am awake or asleep.

I want Phil. 3:14 NKJV to be to driving force in my life. “I press toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus”.

PASSION “I run straight for the divine invitation of reaching the heavenly goal and gaining the victory-prize through the anointing of Jesus”.

MESSAGE “I’m off and running, and I’m not turning back”.

This blog is sure not to condemn anyone, some may say “I am dreaming” or it is all “pie in the sky”!!!

WHY NOT GIVE IT A TRY AND SEE IF IT WORKS????

I really need your comments and response to this blog, ok?
