PRAYER CHANGES THINGS

By John Ollis

I have referred to God answering prayer much in my recent blogs. Some time ago I highlighted Psalm 91:15 NKJV

He shall call upon Me, and I will answer him;
I will be with him in trouble;
I will deliver him and honor him.
With long life I will satisfy him,
And show him My salvation.”

This has become really quickened to me, and has become very special to me. The Psalmist mentions so many awesome truths.

God knows we will call unto Him

He tells us He is hearing and listening

He promises to be with us in trouble

He will deliver us

He will honour us

He will give us long life

He will show us His Salvation

I have taken some important personal matters (I consider) to the Lord laying hold of this glorious promise, and the Lord has ANSWERED EVERY PRAYER. The answers were not what I was asking for, but each answer brought such peace into my heart, The Lord sure knows what is best for us, and I simply say with all my heart “THANK YOU LORD

King David said in Psalm 138:3 NKJV In the day when I cried out, You answered me,
And made me bold with strength in my soul.

We all love Jer. 29:11-13 NKJV For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the Lord, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope. Then you will call upon Me and go and pray to Me, and I will listen to you. And you will seek Me and find Me, when you search for Me with all your heart.

Jesus tells us in Mark 11:24 NKJV Therefore I say to you, whatever things you ask when you pray, believe that you receive them, and you will have them.

The Bible and especially the New Testament has so much to say to us about prayer, and I believe it is the very first thing a new Believer needs to be taught to do to develop a personal intimate relationship with the Lord, and that whenever we have a need we IMMEDIATELY turn to Him in prayer, for He has promised in Phil. 4:19-20 NKJV My God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus. Now to our God and Father be glory forever and ever. Amen.

Not just because of my recent experiences but because of the awesome PROMISES OF GOD we need to make personal prayer A DAILY LIFESTYLE, incorporating all the essential ingredients, let us not forget James’ words in James 4:2 NKJV you do not have because you do not ask. Jesus says in Luke 11:9 AMP.N.T. So I say to you, Ask and keep on asking and it shall be given you; seek and keep on seeking and you shall find; knock and keep on knocking and the door shall be opened to you.

God’s timing is very often different to ours, and the answer may not come when we want it, but let us ASK AND KEEP ON ASKING. I am reminded of the great old hymn that expresses prayer so well

Prayer is the soul’s sincere desire,
uttered or unexpressed;
the motion of a hidden fire
that trembles in the breast.

2 Prayer is the simplest form of speech
that infant lips can try,
prayer the sublimest strains that reach
the Majesty on high.

3 Prayer is the Christian’s vital breath,
the Christian’s native air,
his watchword at the gates of death:
he enters heaven with prayer.

4 Prayer is the contrite sinner’s voice,
returning from his ways;
while angels in their songs rejoice,
and cry, ‘Behold, he prays!

5 The saints in prayer appear as one,
in word and deed and mind;
while with the Father and the Son
sweet fellowship they find.

6 Nor prayer is made on earth alone:
the Holy Spirit pleads,
and Jesus on the eternal throne
for sinners intercedes.

7 O Thou by whom we come to God,
the Life, the Truth, the Way,
the path of prayer thyself hast trod:
Lord, teach us how to pray!

Let us ask like the Disciples LORD TEACH US TO PRAY. Let us never forget James 5:16 KJV.

The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much. amen
