HOW IS YOUR HEARING AND SEEING?
Nearly 15 years ago, I was diagnosed with “moderate hearing loss” and since then I have had to wear hearing aids, and have had to upgrade couple of times as my hearing continues to deteriorate. For over 60 years I have had to wear glasses, as my eyes also are not doing that well. I seek to make use of whatever is available to me to assist me in these areas.
DID YOU KNOW NOT ONLY DO WE HAVE NATURAL SENSES, BUT NOW WE ARE BORN AGAIN, WE NEED TO DEVELOP OUR SPIRITUAL SENSES, OF SEEING, HEARING, TOUCHING, TASTING AND SMELLING.
I was recently reading 1 Kings 18:41-44 NKJV Then Elijah said to Ahab, “Go up, eat and drink; for there is the sound of ABUNDANCE of rain.” So Ahab went up to eat and drink. And Elijah went up to the top of Carmel; then he bowed down on the ground, and put his face between his knees, and said to his servant, “Go up now, LOOK toward the sea.”
So he went up and looked, and said, “There is nothing.” And seven times he said, “Go again.”
Then it came to pass the seventh time, that he said, “There is a cloud, as small as a man’s hand, rising out of the sea!”
N.I.V. Then Elijah said to Ahab, “Go get something to eat and drink, for I hear a MIGHTY RAINSTORM coming!”
So Ahab went to eat and drink. But Elijah climbed to the top of Mount Carmel and bowed low to the ground and prayed with his face between his knees.
Then he said to his servant, “Go and look out toward the sea.”
The servant went and looked, then returned to Elijah and said, “I didn’t see anything.”
Seven times Elijah told him to go and look. Finally the seventh time, his servant told him, “I saw a little cloud about the size of a man’s hand rising from the sea.”
MESSAGE Elijah said to Ahab, “Up on your feet! Eat and drink—celebrate! Rain is on the way; I hear it coming.”
Ahab did it: got up and ate and drank. Meanwhile, Elijah climbed to the top of Carmel, bowed deeply in prayer, his face between his knees. Then he said to his young servant, “On your feet now! Look toward the sea.”
He went, looked, and reported back, “I don’t see a thing.”
“Keep looking,” said Elijah, “seven times if necessary.”
And sure enough, the seventh time he said, “Oh yes, a cloud! But very small, no bigger than someone’s hand, rising out of the sea.”
There was nothing wrong with Elijah’s spiritual sight, he could see and hear in the Spirit very well. I somehow think included in the job description for a Mentor is Audiologist & Optician, to assist the new Believer to learn how to hear and see in the Spirit.
May I ask you what are you seeing and hearing in the Spirit these days? Sadly, either through lack of of “training” or the cares of this world block out the spiritual sounds and sights that God wants us to see.
I agree in these sad days we are living in, it is so easy to let all that is going on around us to block out what God wants us to see. Meditate on this glorious promise. Naturally speaking my poor hearing is hindered because I create a lot of ear wax, which blocks up my hearing aids, and I have to check them regularly, and also see my Audiologist often. Spiritually we need to deal with any “spiritual wax” (sin), and keep short accounts with God and man, and learn to walk in repentance
Isaiah 43:19 NKJV Behold, I will do a new thing,
Now it shall spring forth;
Shall you not know it?
I will even make a road in the wilderness
And rivers in the desert.
I believe there is a MIGHTY RAINSTROM COMING, WITH ABUNDANCE OF RAIN, as the Lord pours out His Holy Spirit on the earth, and we see a glorious ingathering of precious souls, before the Lord returns.
A hand has five fingers, and although all the servant saw was a small hand, and what you may see at the moment may be small,(God wants to enlarge it) many scholars interpret those 5 fingers as the five-fold MInistry Gifts of Christ recorded in Eph. 4:11-14 NKJV And He Himself gave some to be apostles, some prophets, some evangelists, and some pastors and teachers, for the equipping of the saints for the work of ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ, till we all come to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to a perfect man, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ.
Let us be much in prayer for God’s ministries, that they rise up and preach the Full Gospel to the Church and to the world, and that signs follow the preaching of God’s Word as we read in Mark 16:20 NKJV they went out and preached everywhere, the Lord working with them and confirming the word through the accompanying signs. Amen.
I am reminded of the story in 2 Kings 6:15-17 NKJV When the servant of the man of God arose early and went out, there was an army, surrounding the city with horses and chariots. And his servant said to him, “Alas, my master! What shall we do?”
So he answered, “Do not fear, for those who are with us are more than those who are with them.” And Elisha prayed, and said, “Lord, I pray, open his eyes that he may see.” Then the Lord opened the eyes of the young man, and he saw. And behold, the mountain was full of horses and chariots of fire all around Elisha.
LORD OPEN OUR EYES
If ever there was a time when God’s people had an EYE OPENING EXPERIENCE, it is TODAY. the enemy is such a deceiver, he is an expert at putting scales on Believers eyes to stop them seeing what God is wanting to do in our day.
Another spiritual sense may assist your spiritual seeing and hearing, that is the SENSE OF TASTE, how hungry are you for the Word of God? I don’t believe there is such as a thing as “spiritual gluttony” let us ask the Lord to increase our spiritual appetite, for as we read and meditate on the Word of God the Holy Spirit wants to ILLUMINATE (TURN THE LIGHT ON) what he wants us to see and know.
