LISTEN TO MOSES IN PSALM 90
So many people around the world are writing and saying they believe 2022 is going to be a very significant year, many have posted that believe it will be a unique year of blessing, others have indicated the need for the Church to repent and seek the face of God, others suggest this could be the year when one day Jesus will break through the clouds to take His Bride home to heaven. We sure do not know what our Sovereign God has planned (in eternity past) to take place in 2022, but we know for His people, IT WILL BE GOOD Rom.8:28 NKJV And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose.
Did you know we have recorded in our Bible one Psalm written by Moses? It is Psalm 90, I will set it out here.
A Prayer of Moses the man of God.
Lord, You have been our dwelling place in all generations.
Before the mountains were brought forth,
Or ever You had formed the earth and the world,
Even from everlasting to everlasting, You are God.
You turn man to destruction,
And say, “Return, O children of men.”
For a thousand years in Your sight
Are like yesterday when it is past,
And like a watch in the night.
You carry them away like a flood;
They are like a sleep.
In the morning they are like grass which grows up:
In the morning it flourishes and grows up;
In the evening it is cut down and withers.
For we have been consumed by Your anger,
And by Your wrath we are terrified.
You have set our iniquities before You,
Our secret sins in the light of Your countenance.
For all our days have passed away in Your wrath;
We finish our years like a sigh.
THE DAYS OF OUR LIVES ARE SEVENTY YEARSAND IF BY REASON OF STRENGTH THEY ARE EIGHTY YEARS
Yet their boast is only labor and sorrow;
For it is soon cut off, and we fly away.
Who knows the power of Your anger?
For as the fear of You, so is Your wrath.
SO TEACH US TO NUMBER OUR DAYS,THAT WE MAY GAIN WISDOM
Return, O Lord!
How long?
And have compassion on Your servants.
Oh, satisfy us early with Your mercy,
That we may rejoice and be glad all our days!
Make us glad according to the days in which You have afflicted us,
The years in which we have seen evil.
Let Your work appear to Your servants,
And Your glory to their children.
And let the beauty of the Lord our God be upon us,
And establish the work of our hands for us;
Yes, establish the work of our hands.
I have highlighted 2 verses that will be well known by many of my readers.
Because of modern science many people live much longer than their seventy years, I found it interesting that Moses suggests that by the time you hit 80 there is a lack of strength, that sure is my experience, my body is 80+ but on the inside I feel so much younger, it is so important to have a vision born of the holy Spirit that is a driving force within your life, Believers MUST NEVER have a “retirement mentality” but ever be seeking to have a fruitful and effective life serving the Lord.
Many will have read or seen on tv news that in this past week, two prominent people have died, well over their 3 score and ten years, Archbishop Desmond Tutu aged 90, and Betty White (of Golden Girls fame (just 16 days off 100 years, I trust and pray that they dis as Moses challenged in verse 12 TO NUMBER OUR DAYS
NKJV So teach us to number our days,
That we may gain a heart of wisdom.
PASSION Help us to remember that our days are numbered,
and help us to interpret our lives correctly.
N.L.T. Teach us to realize the brevity of life,
so that we may grow in wisdom.
MESSAGE Oh! Teach us to live well!
Teach us to live wisely and well!
These various translations helps us to understand what numbering our days mean, with the Lord’s help may we MAKE EVERY DAY COUNTM and every night as we lay our head upon our pillow, we have made the day fruitfil, effective, and successful for the glory of God amen.
