WE NEED TO LEARN TO CAST DOWN AND CARRY? DO YOU AGREE??

By John Ollis

We know from personal experience that life isn’t always a BED OF ROSES, and from time to time there are numerous cares and concerns and burdens that get to us, and as we enter our “senior years” there are also the physical challenges that confront our aging bodies that are literally wearing out more and more every day..

We, of course, take our cares to the Lord in prayer, trusting for His divine intervention, which often comes, but at other times does not come, I believe we can “ASK AND KEEP ON ASKING”, for our God “WANTS TO MEET ALL OUR NEEDS ACCORDING TO HIS RICHES IN GLORY“. We must always bow to His sovereignty and add “THY WILL BE DONE” and also ask for God’s GRACE to enable us to handle the situation.

I am reminded of Peter’s words this morning found in 1 Peter 5:7 NKJV casting all your care upon Him, for He cares for you.

PASSION Pour out all your worries and stress upon him and leave them there, for he always tenderly cares for you.

N.L.T. Give all your worries and cares to God, for he cares about you.

You will note Peter’s direction POUR OUT, or GIVE YOUR WORRIES to the Lord, and I am sure most of us do that often, but our (MY) problem is, that often within a few hours another situation arises or the same thing happens again, and I pick them up and often lose my peace because I can’t handle the situation myself. I am reminded of a hymn I used to sing many years ago:

Leave it there, oh, leave it there
Take your burden to the Lord and leave it there
If you would trust Him and never doubt
He will surely bring you out
Take your burden to the Lord and LEAVE IT THERE

I have the world from you withhold
of its silver and its gold
And you’ll have to get along with [me just fast]
Just remember in God’s words how He fed those little
birds
Take your burden to the Lord and leave it there

Now, if your body suffers pain and your health you
can’t regain
And you soul is almost sinkin’ in despair
Jesus knew the pain you feel
He can save and He can heal
Take your burden to the Lord and leave it there

ch

If your enemy assails and our heart begin to failDon’t you forget that God in heaven will answer prayer
He will make a way for you, He will guide you safely
through
Take your burden to the Lord and leave it there

Now, if your useful days are gone and old age in
stealing on
And your body sinks beneath the weight of care
Jesus will never leave you then, He’ll go with you to
the end
Take your burden to the Lord and leave it there

ch

Now, if your mother leaves you here
grief and sorrow you must bear
And you feel that all the friend you have is gone
But whenever you feel alone, Jesus will take you in His
arms
Take your burden to the Lord and leave it there

I am still to learn experientially how to fully and effectively to lay my cares at Jesus feet, and completely leave them there, I think the hymn writer above could have been speaking out of personal experience.

The KJV & NKJV use the words CAST DOWN, and the picture in the Greek language seems to suggest literally throwing it down.

I have recently when talking to the Lord about a particular care and concern, after laying it down over and over again, and unsuccessfully leaving at Jesus’ feet, have simply said, “Lord I can’t handle this anymore”, I just throw it down, and wonderfully the burden often lifts and His peace returns, like that old hymn, WHEN WE REACH THE END OF OUR HOARDED RESOURCES OUR FATHER’S FULL GIVING IS ONLY BEGUN.

I am not writing as a scholar, and saying this is what Peter meant, but it is working for me, and I sure thank the Lord for that.

I feel I should mention in this blog too Gal. 6:2 NKJV Bear one another’s burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ. Other translations say, share others burdens, or carry others burdens. Perhaps for many this is much easier to fulfil, than struggling with your own cares, this surely is the Ministry of Intercession where we learn TO STAND IN THE GAP FOR OTHERS, and share their burden in prayer and see God work on their behalf. May every Believer learn to carry and share others burdens and so fulfil the law of Christ.

I have simply shared out of my heart today, if the above words helps even one person I give thanks to the Lord. Please feel free to contact me on [email protected] if you would like to talk more about this topic ok?
