BUILDING ACCORDING TO THE PATTERN (7)

By John Ollis

In this current series we have looked at 2 keys to the pattern as found in Acts 4. Unity and Prayer. now we come to the Word of God.

WORD OF GOD for the believer.

I don’t want to repeat myself too much in this section as we covered it in “The 8 essentials to Daily prayer” but I do want to take the opportunity to challenge the Biblical illiteracy in so many believers. Is it because they were told they MUST read the Word of God? or……. The bible is God’s love letter to us, it is gold to make us rich, it is a place of cleansing, it is mirror,it is our road map, and above all that it is our food and drink. Just as we must eat regularly to maintain our heath and strength, so we must spend time DAILY feeding on the Word. We must Read it, study it, and meditate in it. Remember the Word of God is the source of faith. Rom.10.17  Faith comes by hearing the Rhema word of God. Paul is suggesting I think let’s even  read it aloud lt. Will you pray with me  “Lord increase my hunger for your Word”.

THE WORD OF GOD IN THE CHURCH.

Why and when was it decided NOT to have a Bible reading during a Church service. We often don’t even get a reading at the beginning of a sermon, and often very few scriptural references within the sermon. It is only the Word of God that changes lives, and also brings people to Christ. In Acts 4 they literally prayed out the Word of God, so they must have memorised it firstly, and when you pray out the Word you are praying IN THE WILL OF GOD.

Let us read the Word of God out loud, let’s memorise it (hide it in our hearts) let’s preach it with power. Why do so many Christians get caught up in the latest thing that comes through the Body of Christ, many of them are genuine and brings refreshing, but let us never forget the basics, the essential foundations, in building according to the  PATTERN. It is:

THE WORD THE WORD THE WORD THE WORD
