SO WHAT IS PENTECOST SUNDAY ALL ABOUT ? FOR ME
I said in my last blog, that we would not be in the Kingdom of God today, but for the ministry of the Holy Spirit personally working in our life.
Let us remember that the Day of Pentecost was the birth of the Church, when the Holy Spirit was poured out on the 120 disciples in the upper room. There is different words used by different Bible writers to describe what occurs when a person received Christ as Saviour.
John the Baptist said Jesus would come and baptize people in the Holy Spirit and fire Luke 3.16
Jesus uses the same language in Acts 1.5
Luke in 24.49 speaks of being endued (or clothed upon) with power from on high
Acts 2.4 simply says they were all filled with the Holy, and the same people were filled again in Acts 4.31
The Paul in Eph. 5.18 tells us we must be CONTINUALLY filled with Holy Spirit.
WHEN DOES THE HOLY SPIRIT COME INTO A BELIEVER’S LIFE ?
The moment he is born again, the Holy Spirit enters in, Paul tells us in 1 Cor. 12.3 no one can call Jesus Lord except by the Spirit.
SO, CAN YOU HAVE MORE OF THE HOLY SPIRIT THAN WHAT YOU RECEIVED AT YOUR CONVERSION ? NO NO NO.
the big question is
CAN THE HOLY SPIRIT HAVE MORE OF YOU ? YES YES YES.
It may help you to visualise your body as a house, and when you are born again the Holy Spirit comes in the front door God’s plan is that the Holy Spirit moves into every part of our life (every room, every nook and cranny) and not just as a visitor but as a PERMANENT RESIDENT (in reality) PRESIDENT OF OUR LIFE.
The practical reality is that we make choices and decisions EVERY DAY, and often the choice is made to exclude the Holy Spirit from a certain area in our life, that is why Paul says in Rom. 12.1 we must CONTINUALLY present our bodies a living sacrifice, that is why Paul again says in Eph. 5.18 we must be CONTINUALLY filled with the Spirit. Every morning as we spend time in prayer, as we reaffirm His Lordship over (every part) of our life, we say Holy Spirit fill the house, let there be not one area that you are not Lord.
I love Paul’s prayer in 1 Thess. 5.23 that God would sanctify (make holy) every part of us, spirit soul and body. This is God’s plan as we yield DAILY to the Holy Spirit, He wants to prepare us for heaven, and for us to live Holy pure lives here on earth.
Le me remind you the Holy Spirit will never make you do anything you do not want to do, He will never violate your will, why do some who call themselves Christians never seem to change.
The key words are BE PROACTIVE AND COOPERATE WITH THE HOLY SPIRIT CONTINUALLY IN OUR LIVES SO THAT HIS PERFECT WILL SHALL BE DONE IN OUR LIVES.
