A SIMPLE BUT SO PROFOUND WORD

I have been meditating in the book of Colossians this week, and like all of Paul’s letters, this letter is so full of truth. The verses that really stood out this time and challenged me is chapter 3.16-17
Let the Word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom, teaching and admonishing one another in Psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your heart to the the Lord. And whatever you do in word or deed, do all in the Name of the Lord Jesus. Giving thanks to God the Father through Him.
I decided to look at the Message paraphrase and it reads.
Let the Word of Christ -the Message- have the run of the house, give it plenty of room in your lives. Instruct and direct one another using good common sense, and sing your hearts out to God. Let every detail in your lives -words, and actions, whatever be done in the Name of the Master, Jesus. Thanking the Father every step of the way.
Let me highlight some awesome truths for you.
1. WE MUST LET THE WORD COME AND LIVE PERMANENTLY IN OUR LIVES.
What does this mean practically? We must continue to meditate on the Word, it will continue to give us revelation. As Paul says we MUST let the Word DWELL (TAKE UP RESIDENCE) in our hearts.
2. IT BECOMES THE SOURCE OF WISDOM. We are encouraged to ask the Lord for wisdom, and almost always it comes to us through the Word. Sadly, how often in small groups for example we share out of the depths of our ignorance !!!!!
3. HOW ARE WE TO USE THIS WISDOM ?
In Eph.6.19 Paul tells us how to stay filled with the Spirit, that we are to speak to ourselves in Psalms and Hymns and Spiritual Songs. Here Paul encourages us to put the Word into our songs, Is this the new song David talks about in Ps. 40.3 ??
4. WHATEVER WE DO THERE IS A RIGHT WAY TO DO IT.
In all our words and actions it must be done IN THE NAME OF THE LORD JESUS. What is paul saying.
(a) WE have been delegated an authority to use His Name
(b) There is an authority and power in that Name.
(c) We are declaring that we can not do anything in ourselves except in THE NAME OF JESUS.
5.WE MUST DO IT WITH A HEART OF THANKSGIVING TO THE FATHER. It is good to remind ourselves.
(a) Of the pit from where we were dug from
(b) The blood of Jesus that cleanses us from all sin
(c) The gift of eternal life
(d) The peace that passes all understanding
(e) The joy of the Lord which is our strength
(f) The grace and help that flows from the Throne of grace
(g) That we are MORE than conquerers through Him that loved us
(h) Thaqt we can do all things through Christ which strengthens us
(i) That greater is He that is us that he that is in the world
(J) WE are blessed with EVERY spiritual blessing in Christ Jesus
(k) We were CHOSEN before God even created the world.
(l) I am free from condennation as I walk after the Spirit
(m) I have been reconciled to God
(n) I am joint heirs with Christ
(o) I am set free INDEED
(p) I am accepted in the Beloved
(q) I have the Mind of Christ
(r) I have obtained an inheritance
(s) I have eternal life
(t) I am the Righteousness of God
(u) I am a partaker of His divine nature
(v) I am OVERTAKEN with blessings
(w) I am salt and light in the world
(x) I am His disciple because I have love for others
(Y) The holy Spirit has been poured out into my heart
(z) I am COMPLETE in Him
Let’s have an ATTITUDE OF GRATITUDE and continually give thanks.
