MAY I WISH YOU A VERY HAPPY AND BLESSED EASTER.
This weekend we celebrate the death and resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ, and I am praying it is going to be an awesome time of blessing and revelation for you.
We, of course can and should celebrate Easter EVERY DAY, but is good to highlight this weekend every year too. It is interesting that this year Passover and Easter fall at the same time. The writer to Hebrews tells us that Christ is our Passover. All the Old Testament Jewish Feasts and Offerings have their fulfilment in Christ, it is a fascinating study.
I wonder how many more times we will celebrate Easter here on earth. The signs are everywhere that the Lord’s return is getting closer by the day. The Muslim terrorists, the wars in Iraq, Syria, Yemen, the potential of nuclear warfare from Iran, the questionable cease fire in the Ukraine, earthquakes, cyclones, floods, Global warming, the list goes on and on.
I have written recently on the desperate need of revival amongst God’s people, the enemy has lulled believers into a passivity and careless. We are told in the Word, to look for these signs, and be prepared, and “look up for our redemption is so close”. Paul says we need to wake up from our sleep, and recognise the day and the hour in which we live.
WHAT DOES EASTER MEAN TO YOU ?
Easter reminds me that because of Adam’s sin, the wrath of God was on mankind, and the whole world (including you and me deserved nothing but hell and eternal separation from God.
BUT JESUS CAME
Jesus to the Father’s wrath upon Himself, plus ALL our sins and sicknesses and carried them right away. We were in the “slave market of sin, but Jesus paid the ransom price of His precious blood to set us free.
Paul tells us our Salvation became complete when he rose from the dead.
Written across our life is NOT GUILTY.
We have been translated out of the Kingdom of Darkness into the Kingdom of God.
The blood of Jesus Christ has cleansed us from all sin.
We have received the gift of eternal life.
We have received the peace of God, because we are not at peace with God.
We now have the joy of the Lord which is our strength.
We now have an inheritance in Christ, that through His death and resurrection, we can live a holy pure and victorious life.
The grace of God is now permanently made available to us, not as a licence to sin, but the ability to live above sin, not that we cannot sin, but need not sin.
We received a complete set of armour that we must learn to PUT ON.
The Helmet of Salvation to protect our mind.
The Breastplate of righteousness, we can now practice and walk in righteousness.
The Belt or Skirt of truth, Let the word of God fill our hearts and minds.
Our feet covered in peace, so we only walk in the will of God.
The Shield of Faith to protect us from the fiery darts of the evil one.
The Sword of the Spirit, again that quickened word to stand against the evil one.
WE HAVE NO EXCUSE
Jesus did it all for us, and as we DAILY co-operate and respond to Him we are being changed more and more in His likeness.
We know that that our biggest enemy is not satan but ourselves, so as we begin the Easter celebration let us do some things.
Make sure there is no unconfessed sin our lives.
Also ask the Lord to help us NOT to be slack and un-cooperative in the future.
Reaffirm Jesus is:
The Lord,
The Boss
The Master
The King
The Ruler
The owner of our lives.
I trust that during this weekend you will receive Holy Communion and “remember” Christ’s death and resurrection. Remember the disciples at Emmaus their eyes were opened in the “Breaking of the Bread”. May this weekend not only be a weekend of blessing, but a weekend of revelation to you. Remember truth is progressive, and much of the above has been an ever increasing revelation to me over my 60+ years of Christian experience.
I hears a preacher say (many years ago) that there is one man made thing in heaven, that is the wounds of Christ. Soon we will be gazing on Him in heaven and will for eternity be reminded of all He did for us.
May a new spirit of worship come upon you this weekend as your contemplate all that our Lord Jesus Christ has done for us. May our deepened worship continue to grow in preparation of it being our full time occupation in heaven.
I may not have said one new thing in this blog, but we all need to be reminded about this and every truth in the Word of God.
If you have time, I would love to hear from you, not only regarding this blog
