JUST A THOUGHT TO CONSIDER.
The Old Testament Prophets prophesied regarding the Former and Latter Rain, which had its fulfilment on the Day of Pentecost, when the Holy Spirit fell on the one hundred and twenty in the Upper room in Jerusalem.
It had further fulfilment at the start of the twentieth century when again the Holy Spirit fell on people around the world. The Pentecostal/Charismatic movement is now the largest segment of the Christian Church in the world today. Many Christians after that time became known the “Latter Rain people”.
I have written recently, that I have been disturbed and how the Church seems to be walking away from its awesome foundations, and is compromising truth, then I felt the Holy Spirit challenge me “to lift up my eyes”. and like Jesus “be moved with compassion” and see the crowds as “sheep without a Shepherd”, and that it is “Harvest Time Now”.
Historically when there has been a “revival” (people by the thousands becoming converted) it is preceded by the Church (and the believers in them) being “revived” and coming back to living “according to the pattern”. God told Moses and King David to build the Tabernacle/Temple according to the pattern, they followed God’s instructions totally, and when the buildings were complete, the Glory of God fell, again I believe this Old Testament picture has had its fulfilment prophetically in the Church many times. Why have I written all the above?
In my current New Testament daily reading, I have begun reading The Gospel of John, and was impacted by a statement made by the Master of the feast at the wedding at Cana in John 2:10.
“YOU HAVE KEPT THE GOOD WINE UNTIL NOW”.
I said in my last blog, I don’t want to just apply truth, but interpret truth so it will be a real blessing to people. The Bible and Church History has confirmed to us over and over again, that TRUTH IS PROGRESSIVE.
I am so glad I am alive and well in the twenty first century to have the privilege of being able to look back through history and see how God has restored truth and also like a rose bud let truth progressively open up so that our understanding continues to increase.
There are many stories told that the late Smith Wigglesworth prophesied that the last great revival before Jesus returns would be in Australia. These few words from John 2 has I believe become a Rhema word to my spirit, and I am confessing, that despite what we see with the natural eye here in Australia, God has kept the good (BEST) wine until now. Wine of course is a beautiful type (picture) of the Holy Spirit) weren’t the disciples on the Day of Pentecost accused of being drunk?
You may say like the Elders to the mothers Lamentations 2:12 Where is the grain and the wine? This is a challenging question in our day, the grain of course is a type of the Word of God, it has been said:
IF YOU HAVE THE SPIRIT WITHOUT THE WORD YOU BLOW UP, IF YOU HAVE THE WORD WITHOUT THE SPIRIT YOU DRY UP, IF YOU HAVE THE WORD AND THE SPIRIT YOU GROW UP.
Does the Word of God promise further outpourings YES, YES, YES, let us get back to the Word and God’s promises and believe that God has kept the best until now, and that we will co-operate with the Lord to see it come to pass in our world Amen.
