GOD'S TIMING (1)

By John Ollis

In Psalm 105 :17-18 The Psalmist reminds us that Joseph was sold into slavery by his brothers, then as a result of Potiphar’s attempted molestation he is thrown into prison. Surely, he must have pondered many times the dream he had of his brothers bowing down to him, and here he is in prison, UNTIL God decided it was time for him to be released. We read: v19 Until the time that his (Joseph’s) words (his interpretation of the dream) came to pass. In God’s perfect timing.
It was well over 20 years after Joseph had seen his brothers bowing down to him that the dream came to pass.  The Psalmist goes on in verse 19  and says:

THE WORD OF THE LORD TESTED HIM.

I am sure there were many times Joseph must have wondered:

Was this dream from God?

Did I really hear from God?

Was it a fabrication of my own mind?

There have been times I am sure when we believe we have received a Rhema Word from God, and it doesn’t seem to be coming to pass, so we can relate  (at least in hindsight) to Joseph’s experience of the WORD OF THE LORD TESTING HIM.

We are generally impatient, and expect things to happen NOW, we must recognise GOD’S TIMING CAN BE SO DIFFERENT TO OURS, we must to recognise, that if we are walking in the will of God, it isn’t the evil one holding things up, it is the Sovereign  Lord.

We must also NOT do what Moses did, he knew at 40 years of age, he was going to be used to set God’s people free from the Egyptian yoke, he raced ahead and really messed up, and had to flee to the wilderness. it has been said:

IT MAY JUST TAKE A FEW DAYS TO GET TO THE WILDERNESS, BUT IT TOOK GOD 40 YEARS TO GET EGYPT OUT OF MOSES!!!!

Jesus knew when he was twelve, that “He must be about His Father’s business” but remained subject to His earthly parents for another eighteen years before it was the Father’s time for Jesus to commence His ministry.

I feel there are those who will be reading this blog, have a Word burning in their heart, and are also frustrated that it is not coming to pass. Let the Word of the Lord test you, ask your self some questions

Am I being impatient?

Am I walking in the light of God’s Word?

Am I walking in victory and purity?

Are there areas of self (or sin) that need to be dealt with in my life before God’s Word can come to pass?

When you have resolved these questions in your heart, then look at your present situation,

Take every opportunity to do what you can do NOW with all your heart, be a servant be willing to simply serve (even putting out the chairs, making the coffee, or even cleaning the church toilets and tell the Lord, only when He is ready, when He opens the door, will you walk through it. This will deal with your impatience and frustrations. Remember “The steps of a good man (or woman) are ordered by the Lord, and God delights in your way”.

I do pray this simple blog, will bless and encourage you, please let me know if it has.
