I NEED PATIENCE NOW !!!!!
Some of my readers will know I have been praying about a couple of matters for some months without seemingly getting an answer from the Lord. I can’t but help ask the question “Why is the answer taking so long to come” when at other times the answer is often immediate.
Of course the answer is
GOD HAS HIS OWN TIMETABLE
The Bible says God’s ways are not our ways, His thoughts are not the same as ours. GOD IS SOVEREIGN and he knows what is best for us, and often that is so different to what we actually want and need. I am realising more than ever that I can be IMPATIENT, and want to pray
LORD GIVE ME PATIENCE AND GIVE IT TO ME NOW?
I have mentioned previously about a sermon I heard nearly 40 years ago the title being “The slowness of God”. Of course God isn’t slow, HE IS JUST WORKING TO HIS OWN TIMETABLE.
In Galatians 5 22-23 Paul lists the ninefold fruit of the Spirit, which includes LONGSUFFERING which can just as easily be translated PATIENCE. Experience teaches us that some parts of this spiritual fruit can grow faster than others, and many of us need to grow the fruit of patience.
Paul writing to young Pastor Timothy (1Timothy 6:11) says Follow after righteousness, faith, love, PATIENCE meekness.
Paul gives his own testimony in 2 Timothy 3:10 But you have known my doctrine, manner of life, purpose, faith, longsuffering , charity, PATIENCE.
Then I have to receive the rebuke in Paul’s letter to Pastor Titus (2:2) That the aged men be sober, sound in faith, in charity, and in PATIENCE.
So as you can gather I am really writing this blog to myself today, because I am realising more than ever that I am impatient as I have not received my answer to my prayers!!!!!
What is the answer having INFORMATION is not enough, I need a greater REVELATION on the SOVEREIGNTY OF GOD, I need that 18 inch drop from my head to my heart, and shout from the rooftops:
LORD I AM SORRY, FORGIVE ME FOR MY IMPATIENCE
GOD KNOWS WHAT HE IS DOING
GOD’S TIMING IS ALWAYS PERFECT
ALL THINGS ARE WORKING TOGETHER FOR MY (eternal) GOOD. (Rom.8:28)
LET YOU PERFECT WILL BE DONE IN MY LIFE EVERY DAY
This doesn’t mean I won’t get frustrated, but I will do what Jesus recommends
ASK AND KEEP ON ASKING, SEEK AND KEEP ON SEEKING, KNOCK AND KEEP ON KNOCKING UNTIL THE DOOR IS OPENED.
I trust this simple blog may help and encourage some people today, may we learn to lean back on the everlasting arms of God, and wait for HIS PERFECT TIMING and HIS PERFECT ANSWER in our situation. AMEN
