MALNOURISHED CHRISTIANS

By John Ollis

We have heard much over recent weeks on our television news about the famine and drought in four East African nations. Where at least 1.4 million children are on the verge of starvation. We know when fasting after 3 days the our appetite diminishes and remains limited until around the 40th day and if we don’t start earing then our organs will begin to break down. Billions of dollars are required to help change this sad situation in Africa.

WHAT ABOUT THE MALNOURISHMENT OF TENS OF MILLIONS OF BELIEVERS?

Ideally when a person comes to faith, there comes a hunger for the Word of God, which should be nurtured by good Biblical Discipleship. If a person isn’t discipled this hunger will diminish, and many Believers need continued encouragement even with discipling to maintain their spiritual hunger  for the Word of God.
I love the story I read on FB this week of a lady that had her Pastor and wife for dinner. When they had left to go home, she noticed that a very special spoon was missing and she was convinced the Pastor had stolen it. A year later the Pastor and his wife came again for dinner, the hostess couldn’t help but ask “did you steal my spoon” the Pastor replied I placed it in your Bible.  I am sure it was a very uncomfortable dinner for the lady. This story highlights the desperate need in so many churches in 2017 of Believers who never open their Bibles.

WHAT CAN WE DO AS LEADERS ABOUT THIS?

Jesus said in John  21:15&17  FEED MY LAMBS AND SHEEP
Peter in 1 Peter 5:2) urged the Leaders to FEED THE FLOCK OF GOD
So Pastors every time you stand to preach make sure you are breaking the Bread of God to His people.
Every time you conduct a Bible Study make you share good solid truth with God’s people.

WHAT ELSE CAN WE DO?

Teach God’s people HOW TO FEED THEMSELVES. nurture their spiritual hunger, remind God’s people, one sermon a week will not satisfy nor meet their spiritual needs.. plus.
THIS BOOK WILL KEEP YOU FOR SIN, AND SIN WILL KEEP YOU FROM THIS BOOK.
In Lev. 21 there is a list of things that disqualified a Priest from functioning in their ministry, In verse 20 it speaks of a dwarf, in the Hebrew text it is better described as skinny and scrawny, someone who is malnourished.
But if we feed DAILY  on the Word of God, this is the result. Psalm 92:14
THE RIGHTEOUS SHALL  BRING FORTH MUCH FRUIT IN OLD AGE, THEY SHALL BE FAT AND FLOURISHING      amen.
