YOU ARE THE POTTER I AM THE CLAY

By John Ollis

I guess the KEY WORD in the title of my last blog is LETTING and itis what it is all about when it comes to our walk with God.

WE MUST BELIEVE GOD’S WORD AND DAILY CO-OPERATE WITH THE LORD AND HIS WORD

I was reminded this morning again of the glorious promise through the Apostle Peter in 2 Peter 1:3 that through God’s divine power
HE HAS GIVEN US ALL THINGS THAT PERTAIN TO LIFE AND GODLINESS  NKJV
Peter goes on in the next verse and says if we believe and embrace the promises of God and let the WORD WORK IN US, we become partakers of the divine nature (God’s DNA) we have the grace and ability to let Christ rule and reign in us.
My prayer is that I and all God’s people will get a deeper revelation and understanding of the importance of submission and surrender to the Lord and that it must become a daily lifestyle.
I often ask myself the question why do I slip off the altar all the time? I guess it all boils down to our sinful nature, (our constant companion), I want to believe the more I believe God’s Word, and let it work in my life and I am regularly partaking of God’s divine nature I WILL MORE AND MORE STAY AND WANT TO STAY ON THE ALTAR IN SURRENDER.
I began to think about the pottery process, and the Word speaking of God as the Potter and we are the clay. I don’t really know a lot about the pottery process, but I have seen many potters literally throw a lump of clay onto the wheel. I guess before we come to Christ we are simply “a lump of clay” the Psalmist tells us we were in a horrible pit, and the miry clay was clinging to us..
Then the (divine) Potter begins to work on us, with His strong hands and thumbs, and I realise this is another reason we react and get off the altar of surrender, we don’t like the shaping and pressure that is being brought to bear on us, not realising that if we respond to the Potter”s thumbs we will become a VESSEL OF HONOUR (containing the glory of God) Rom.9:21.
When the vessel’s shape and design is complete it is often PUT ON THE SHELF and left to sit and dry out. Do you sometimes feel you have been put on the shelf and nothing is happening in your life, I sure did for a number of months this year, it is not a happy place to be unless you realise the Potter has put you there for a purpose.
Then the vessel is then put in the kiln to permanently bake the impress of the Potter hands on the vessel. We sure don’t like the fiery trials, but they are all part of the pottery process. In the pottery process it only happens once, but in our walk with God it will happen on numerous occasions.
I sure want to be a vessel of honour for the Lord, and I am realising more than ever there is a process which I may not like or appreciate, but need to respond to it, so I can be a man of God and fulfil the purposes of God in my generation. I have just thought of those words.
HAVE THINE OWN WAY LORD, HAVE THINE OWN WAY
THOU ART THE POTTER I AM THE CLAY, MOULD ME AND MAKE ME
AFTER THY WILL, WHILE I AM WAITING YIELDED AND STILL.
I trust this simple blog will be a blessing to you.
