CHANGE (3)

By John Ollis

We come to the letter H in our change acrostic, which stands for Holy Spirit directed lives. For many hundreds of years the Holy Spirit was the almost forgotten third member of the Godhead, then in the 1700’s the Pietists and then the Holiness preachers came to prominence and emphasised  the work of the Holy Spirit in the life of the Believer. Then just over 100 years ago the Pentecostals came onto the scene with the emphasis of power in and through the life of Believer.
We want to bring emphasis on the fact the Holy Spirit wants to direct the Believer in all He does, not just in ministry but in his lifestyle as well.
This is another important and essential area that the new Believer requires and it is best developed through Biblical Discipleship. The reality is that for many Believers, it is simply fantasy to say they are being directed by the Holy Spirit. Many Believers through a hit and miss method, eventually start to learn how to be directed. When if a Discipler comes alongside quite quickly the new Believer can (usually) discern the Lord’s leading and direction.
When a new Believer is Biblically Discipled he is taught to discern the Lord’s leading and direction especially through the reading and meditating on the Word of God.  It is good to have an older and more experienced Brother (or sister) to help us in this.
Paul tells us in 1 Cor. 14:10 There are many voices in this world and every voice has some significance, but we must learn to distinguish between the “many voices”  and hear the Lord’s voice.
So in 2018 we need more than ever to learn to hear and discern the Lord’s direction for our personal lives as well as for the Church.
If this is a new area for you, and if you are honest to say you have made mistakes in this area, ask the Lord to lead you to a mature Believer who can help you in this area.
We know the Word of God tells us that God is not the author of confusion, He wants to lead us and direct us, but we must have EARS TO HEAR.

MAY WE KNOW THE LORD’S DIRECTION IN 2018
