CHANGE (4)

By John Ollis

We now come to the letter A in our CHANGE acrostic  ATTITUDES THAT ARE OPEN TO LEARNING AND CHANGE. As I prepare my heart for prayer each day, amongst the areas I ask the Lord to search my heart is, What mixture is there in my motives and attitudeS? Why do i do what I do? Is it for my glory or God’s glory?, Is it extending my kingdom or God’s Kingdom? We can fool the people around us that are motives and attitudes are pure, sadly we can even try and fool ourselves, but God who sees into the inner recesses of our heart cannot be fooled.
The reality is most people hate change, this seems to increase as one gets older, until we can start to fear the possibility of change. Yet, in every aspect of life there is constant change,  physically we become very aware of the change taking place in our bodies because of the aging process. The amount of change in our world in our life time is simply mind blowing. So let us have an ATTITUDE CHECK  today in relation to the importance of the need for  change in the Church. Why some people love samo samo, I will never understand.  There is a profound statement that we need to lay hold off.

METHODS CAN (AND SHOULD) CHANGE, BUT THE MESSAGE MUST NOT.

Paul reminds us that by every and all means we must seek to see people saved. Yet we often stick to the same old way of doing things even though it is not producing anything for the Kingdom of God.
So, let us ask ourselves the question, “Am I genuinely “open to change”  and i willing to learn new methods of fulfilling the great Commission and building the Church of the Lord Jesus Christ. I guess this is another opportunity to have a Mentor (or a buddy) come alongside and challenge us in this whole area of our attitude to change.
We are not talking about change simply for change sake, but genuine Holy Spirit creative ways that we embrace to fulfil the purposes of God in our generation.

LORD HELP US TO BE OPEN TO LEARN AND TO CHANGE AMEN
