ANOTHER ASPECT TO MY TESTIMONY (2)

By John Ollis

There is an excellent tv program we watch  called “LONG LOST FAMILY” there is a U.S. production and also a U.K. production which is screened on the Lifestyle program on our cable system, we watch the U.K. program, As the title suggests that through some experts in searching down family members there is that connection or reconciliation between those who have never met or had been lost over the years and are reconnected with their families, it is very enjoyable to view.
My parents immigrated from the U.K. at least 100 years ago, and sadly the connections were not maintained. In the late 90’s I began to search for my mother’s family, she had been bought to Australia by her grandmother (not her mother) and after much searching, we discovered her family, interestingly then had been simultaneously  searching as well. We have had a number of visits to the U.K, since then and have always made time to meet up with we discovered quite am extended family. Sadly, the key members have now passed away, and we don’t feel up to extended overseas travel anymore either.
My father’s situation has been so much harder to follow through, we had tried many avenues but always came up with a blank wall. Then, some months ago through Facebook I received a message  from a person who said she could be my niece, after checking all the facts and documents her claim was correct. My father as a teenager immigrated to Australia with his family and they had settled in Melbourne, some years later my father decided to go to New Zealand, he met a N.Z. lady, and married her. It appears soon after their first child was born he walked away and returned to Melbourne, met my mother and moved in with her in a de-facto relationship  (not a common practice in the pre-war Australia) and I and my sister were the result.
In just over 2 weeks time Margaret and I will be journeying to Melbourne to meet my niece, and more importantly my half sister (her mother) who is 85 years old. We will stay in the same hotel for 2 nights and catch up. As you can appreciate I AM VERY EXCITED ABOUT THIS.
After all these years my family will at last be complete, and I want to put pen to paper and give thanks to the Lord for this all happening and coming together.  FAMILY is very important in God’s heart, and the awesome fact that when we are reconciled to God we are declared to be SONS OF GOD.  As a child and teenager I cannot say I had a happy childhood as I grew  up in a ever developing alcoholic setting. I began to appreciate family so much more when I became a part of the FAMILY OF GOD nearly 67 years ago. I have spiritual family on every inhabited continent, and they number in their tens of thousands.
So, in just a few days I am having a mini reunion with a sister I did not know I had, and that I am sure is going to be awesome, but how much more awesome  will be that day when I meet all my spiritual brothers and sisters in the air and will spend eternity with them in that constant permanent FAMILY REUNION in heaven.

I LOVE THIS FAMILY OF GOD, SO CLOSELY KNITTED INTO ONE, YOU’VE TAKEN ME INTO YOUR HEART, AND l’M SO GLAD TO BE A PART OF THE FAMILY OF GOD
