DEALING WITH OUR COMMON ENEMY
I can sincerely say, whenever I write a blog it is because, the Lord has been speaking to me personally (or dealing with me) or I see a need that I feel I can speak into, or some other genuine reason, I sure don’t blog for blogging sake.
I seem to meet a lot of Christians who seem to be more devil conscious than Jesus conscious, and whenever a negative situation or circumstance arises, or a person says or does something that upsets them, they immediately start binding the devil and taking “authority” over the matter. Is this a product of some of the teaching and preaching that is about today that if your Christian life is not a “bed of roses” then the “enemy” is trying to attack you!!!! This behaviour causes many Christians to react and go in the opposite direction, and not even mention the devil.
WHAT WE NEED IS BALANCE
We all know Romans 8:28 very well NKJV And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose The MESSAGE expresses it this way That’s why we can be so sure that every detail in our lives of love for God is worked into something good. So God who is all seeing and all knowing, is not surprised by the often negative situations that arise in a person’s life, but He seeks to use them for our spiritual good, how can we ever grow spiritually unless we learn to make use of all the keys God has made available to us through the death and resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ, and learn to RESPOND biblically to these situations.
Of course, the enemy will seek at times to use these negative situations and will also create his own situations.
SO WE NEED DISCERNMENT
This is where Biblical Discipleship again is so essential, where a Mentor can assist you to recognise what is a “natural/normal” situation or is or has become an attack of the evil one. The Bible tells us that we must Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour 1 Peter 5:8 NKJV, but the reality is, he is a toothless lion, having lost all his authority when Jesus died on the Cross, but either because of our ignorance, or he trying to take authority that is not his to take Christians can be overtaken. There is so much in the Word of God regarding what is now available to us so that we can deal with EVERY attack of the evil one, this is so clearly spelt out in Paul’s teaching on the whole armour of God in Ephesians 6:10-18, may this teaching become a Rhema word to every Believer.
A truth, a practical essential key that has assisted me, and blest me so much is found in James 4:7 NKJV Therefore submit to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you. The Message says: So let God work his will in you. Yell a loud no to the Devil and watch him scamper. Let us unpack this verse I think there are THREE KEY WORDS.
SUBMIT RESIST FLEE
1.SUBMISSION & SURRENDER (continuous) is the essential key to an ongoing victorious life, Jesus MUST be Lord, over our spirit, soul and body 1 Thess.5:23 NKJV Now may the God of peace Himself sanctify you completely; and may your whole spirit, soul, and body be preserved blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. The quicker we learn this truth, and live the surrendered life, the more we will know His blessing upon us.
THE DEEPER THE SUBMISSION, THE GREATER ABILITY TO:
2.RESIST the devil. How do we do it? The three things I use are:
The authority I have IN THE NAME OF JESUS, to tell him to go.
I take the SWORD OF THE SPIRIT, the Rhema Word of God , and speak out God’s Word to him, like 1John 4:4 NKJV He who is in you is greater than he who is in the world.
I confess that the BLOOD OF JESUS is over my life to cleanse and protect me.
The devil hates these things, so what MUST he do
FLEE, SCAMPER, RUN AWAY, not perhaps or maybe HE HAS GOT TO GO, The Word of God says it, I claim it and believe it, because God is ALWAYS TRUE TO HIS NAME, HIS NATURE AND HIS PROMISES, it must happen EVERY time he comes to tempt us.
