LET US DO THIS RIGHT PLEASE?

By John Ollis

My most recent blog is part of the sermon for this Sunday morning coming, the 2nd part I will post early next week. It dawned upon me once again as I was preparing the sermon that unless a person is Biblically Discipled he will remain ignorant of all that is available to him to walk the Christian life. So many young believers get discouraged and disillusioned when they continue to live a defeated life (and sadly some even walk away).  Many of my friends agree with me that Discipleship is both BIBLICAL & ESSENTIAL yet it doesn’t seem to be happening. I ask the question WHY?
I am not a demon chaser as my readers would clearly know if they have read the many hundreds of blogs I have written, but is it the deception of the evil one not to Biblically Disciple? Many people  see the need and come up with lots of ideas, which generally mean a “class” of some kind but no “one on one” “face to face” sharing, nor a long term commitment to see it through so that the new Believer comes to maturity, my experience is this takes six to nine months, and often will then develop into a Mentoring experience, as the Believer begins to evidence giftings and graces  upon his life, and real leadership potential, or at least the ability to become a Disciplemaker.
The sad reality is that many Leaders have never been personally Discipled, and therefore don’t know how to do it. or have the attitude, “I battled through so can you”. I was never discipled, and have many regrets and scars to confirm it. My concern and burden is for every young Believer and for every local church, that we do it the right way. I read this statement by John Wesley this week:

THE CHURCH CHANGES THE WORLD NOT BY MAKING CONVERTS BUT BY MAKING DISCIPLES.

There is no doubt that we are living in the last days, and Jesus will soon break through the clouds, and Paul tells us Jesus is coming for a SPECIAL CHURCH  in Ephesians 5:27 All that he does in us is designed to make us a mature church for his pleasure, until we become a source of praise to him—glorious and radiant, beautiful and holy, without fault or flaw  Passion Bible.
that He might present her to Himself a glorious church, not having spot or wrinkle or any such thing, but that she should be holy and without blemish  NKLV
Just as Jesus said “I will build my Church” and He does this through His people, so much of what needs to be accomplished in the new Believer’s life again He does this through His people who must learn to BIBLICALLY DISCIPLE.

ARE WE SITTING AROUND EXPECTING JESUS TO DO WHAT HE HAS CALL US TO DO?

Now go in my authority and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Passion Bible  Matthew 28:18
Go out and train everyone you meet, far and near, in this way of life, marking them by baptism in the threefold name: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Message Bible
I thank God for The Navigators ministry, and Youth with a Mission, but they were raised up because the local church was not obeying the Great Commission, let’s do it right amen.
