I WANT PEOPLE TO SEE JESUS IN ME

By John Ollis

We are all very aware how our ENVIROMENT (the people we live and work with)  can influence us either for good or for evil. For hundreds of years men and women have created cloistered monasteries and convents to get away from this evil world, but we know that most of us cannot withdraw from this evil world, that we are to be in this world but not of this world.
The Lord Jesus through His death and resurrection has procured for us the ability not to let ourselves be polluted by the world. This is why Biblical Discipleship is so essential. We have such an inheritance available to us, but we must be informed about it.
In Singapore, where we served on two occasions  all the young men must serve two years of National Service, a Pastor told me that in the particular church he served at,50% of the young men who go into N.S. from that church do not return to church following their service, as they become so polluted by the sinful influences of their comrades, sadly, I don’t think the level of discipleship and mentoring in the large church was very good, at least at that time.
I want to share an Old Testament and a New Testament Scripture with you, that to me is an additional key to not letting the world influence us.
Psalm 27:4 NKJV One thing I have desired of the Lord,  that will I seek, that I may dwell in the house of the Lord, all the days of my life, to behold the beauty of the Lord, and to enquire in His temple.
MESSAGE Here’s the one thing I crave from God, the one thing I seek above all else, I want the privilege of living with Him every moment in His House, finding the sweet loveliness of His face I want to live my life close to Him.
2 Corinthians 3:18 NKJV But we all, with unveiled face, BEHOLDING as in a mirror, the glory of the Lord. Are being TRANSFORMED into the same image from glory to glory, just as by the Spirit of the Lord.
AMP And all of us, as with unveiled face, [because we] continued to behold [in the Word of God] as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are constantly being transfigured into His very own image in ever increasing splendor and from one degree of glory to another; [for this comes] from the Lord [Who is] the Spirit.
C.S. Lewis reminds us that we are “Never too old to dream a new dream, or set a new goal”, I want to encourage you to:

MAKE YOUR NO.1 PRIORITY YOU WANT TO BE MORE LIKE JESUS

King David, and the Apostle Paul tells us  we need to do MORE BEHOLDING, more GAZING on the Lord, The AMP.N.T.  says looking at Jesus in the WORD OF GOD.

THE MORE WE DO THIS THE MORE WE BECOME LIKE JESUS

When we were born again, the Holy Spirit came into our life, and one of His many ministries is to keep on drawing us ever closer to Jesus, please note as we behold and gaze upon the Lord we are being TRANSFORMED, this word in the Greek is metamorphoo, from which we get the English word metamorphosis, the “hairy caterpillar” can disappear as we gaze upon the Lord, and the beauty of Jesus be seen in us.
Albert Osborn a past General of the Salvation Army wrote

Let the beauty of Jesus be seen in me, all His wonderful passion and purity,

Oh my Saviour divine, all my being refine, till the beauty of Jesus be seen in me

Let this be your prayer “To be like Jesus this hope possesses me, in every thought and deed, this is my aim my creed, to be like Jesus, this hope possesses me, His Spirit helping me like Him I’ll be”.

Let us have quality time regularly just sitting in His presence, gazing at His beauty, and let the metamorphosis take place AMEN.
