ARE YOU IN THE WAY?

By John Ollis

As I was meditating this morning on the Lord’s goodness and blessing on my life I was reminded of the words of Abraham’s servant Eliezer found in Genesis 24:27 KJV And he said, Blessed be the Lord God of my master Abraham, who hath not left destitute my master of his mercy and his truth: I BEING IN THE WAY THE LORD LED ME to the house of my master’s brethren. I have highlighted the words that stood out in my mind. He was instrumental in bringing back Rebekah to be Isaac’s wife as Abraham had requested.

I think there is a lot we can learn from Eliezer’s life, I trust this simple blog may be a blessing to you.

WHAT DOES IT MEAN TO BE IN THE WAY?

  1. He WAS A MAN OF PRAYER as clearly indicated in verse 24. If we want the Lord to lead us, we must seek His guidance, and develop an intimate relationship with the Lord in prayer and in the Word of God, and this certainly helps us to be able to clearly hear His voice speaking to us which means:
  2. HE WAS OBEDIENT TO HIS MASTER. We must learn to live the surrendered life and walk in obedience to the Lord.

THE LORD’S LEADING VERY MUCH DEPENDS ON OUR LIVING.

So we must maintain an attitude of repentance. seeking to regularly clear the decks of any unconfessed sin, and reaffirming Christ’s Lordship over our lives. This keeps our spiritual ears clear and clean to hear God’s voice speaking to us.

Verse 2 in Genesis chapter 24 tells us HE WAS A SON OF THE HOUSE, this suggests to me, we need to be committed to a local church and submitted to the leadership of that church. Eliezer made an oath to Abraham that he would get a bride for Isaac,

Verse 12 tells us Eliezer asked for the Lord’s SUCCESS to fulfil his oath, We are reminded by James we “have not because we ask not”, and that we need to ask and keep on asking, and expect God to answer our prayer.

This caused me afresh to see the Lord’s leading over all my Christian life of some 67+ years, and the stories truly would fill a book, but especially these last few years, the Lord has been so good to me, His blessings are so wonderful and so undeserved, His Word has become so real to me, there have been so many Rhema Words, that have changed the course of my life, His presence has been so manifestly obvious. The opportunity to minister to thousands in preaching and teaching and the many individual sons I have been able to invest in to be MEN OF THE WAY.

I am not suggesting I have not strayed away from the WAY sometimes, but the Lord has remained EVER FAITHFUL, so I see an important key here, if I want to continue to see the Lord to lead me and bless me, I have to be in the WAY.

BY GOD’S GRACE THAT IS WHERE I WANT TO BE EVERY DAY.

ARE YOU IN THE WAY??????
