JESUS-THE SOURCE OF LIFE.

By John Ollis

I seem to attend a goodly number of funerals these days, I read somewhere, that a sign of aging was regularly being a pallbearer at your friends funerals. I attended a funeral some time ago where a local choir sang a song that greatly blessed me and really moved me, it has been made very popular by the Brooklyn Tabernacle choir, New York) the title is “Total Praise” and these are the lyrics.

Total Praise

Richard Smallwood

Lord, I will lift mine eyes to the hills
Knowing my help is coming from you
Your peace you give me in time of the storm
You are the source of my strength
You are the strength of my life
I lift my hands in total praise to you
Amen, Amen, Amen, Amen

This song echo’s the words of King David in Psalm 27:1 NKJV The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? THE LORD IS THE STRENGTH OF MY LIFE, of whom shall I be afraid?
The AMP N.T. SAYS THE LORD is my Light and my Salvation—whom shall I fear or dread? The Lord is the REFUGE and STRONGHOLD of my life—of whom shall I be afraid?

I love King David, and his writings, not only that he was the “Sweet Psalmist of Israel” but because although he had failed the Lord he then deeply repented, and from that time on there seemed to be a new anointing upon him of the Holy Spirit, and a deeper level of inspiration upon his Psalms.

Not only is David declaring that God is the source of his physical strength but he says I know where to run, MY GOD IS MY REFUGE, and there is no safer place in the whole world than to find your God as a stronghold against every enemy.

I felt impressed to write this blog this afternoon, it may be you are going through a battle or a trial at this time. As Peter said on behalf of all the Disciples in John 6:68 NKJV But Simon Peter answered Him, “Lord, to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life.

Just run to Jesus right now and fall at His feet, and say with Peter “only You have the words I need to hear”, and with David make a confession of your faith, and say Jesus “YOU ARE THE STRENGTH OF MY LIFE, meet me at my point of need now”. I guarantee on the basis of God’s Word, Phil. 4:19 He will meet you, and meet your need. amen
