IS IT TIME FOR A FRESH ASSESSMENT?
I personally believe we have a very good health system in my country. For example, this week I had to have an Annual Health Assessment which is given to all those 75 and over (this is my third). The Assessment covers every aspect of my health, physical, mental and emotional etc. It takes about an hour, primarily conducted by a nurse then finalised by my G.P. I guess I basically passed with flying colours, in one question you are told three words, then about 30 minutes later you are asked what those words were, last year I got 2 out of three, this year I got them all correct. I guess the overall idea is “prevention is better than cure”. My human body is slowly wearing out, and as stated in some funeral services “In the midst of life we are in death. I sure can’t say with David in Psalm 18:29 NKJV For by You I can run against a troop, By my God I can leap over a wall. But I can thank God for “every breath I breathe, for He is the STRENGTH OF MY LIFE.
This Assessment caused me to think “Should I give myself a “spiritual assessment?” so I decided to ask myself a series of questions about my walk with God, and my ministry. Paul reminds us in his letters it is easy to get slack and lazy and just wander along without much effort and organisation, and we need to “beat our bodies and bring them into subjection” and “work out our Salvation with fear and trembling”. I believe I can say I passed my assessment, but could be doing MUCH BETTER!!!!!
So I am now looking at ways and structure (discipline) that I can add to my life to assist me, I also asked myself “John what is your vision for your life and ministry?” I can sincerely say I WANT TO BE MORE LIKE JESUS, and I want to produce MORE FRUIT FOR THE KINGDOM OF GOD. After around 50 years of public ministry, and much travel to many countries, I am now have basically a hidden (or private Ministry) involving Intercession, Mentoring and writing, and I believe this can produce much fruit for the Kingdom of God.
I am also going to do what God told Habakkuk to do (in Hab. 2:2) NLT
“Write my (VISION) answer plainly on tablets,
so that a runner can carry the correct message to others.
This vision is for a future time.
It describes the end, and it will be fulfilled.
If it seems slow in coming, wait patiently,
for it will surely take place.
It will not be delayed.
The MESSAGE says “Write this.
Write what you see.
Write it out in big block letters
so that it can be read on the run.
This vision-message is a witness
pointing to what’s coming.
It aches for the coming—it can hardly wait!
I can honestly say I am as fulfilled today as I was when I was travelling the world, the Lord is so good, and I give Him all the glory, I can still say “I AM LIVING THE DREAM”, and seeing the Lord do some awesome things through the present ministry He has given me.
Is it time you did a fresh assessment? I encourage you to think about it ok?
Much love in Jesus Name.
