ARE YOU DOING THE WILL OF GOD?
King David declares in Psalm 40:8 NLT I take joy in doing your will, my God,
for your instructions are written on my heart.” David considered it a joy and a privilege to do the will of God, it was not a chore or burden to him. It was so real to him that He believed God had written His will on his heart.
CAN YOU TOO SAY “IT IS A JOY TO DO THE WILL OF GOD?
Now let us move to the New Testament:
WHAT IS THE WILL OF GOD FOR EVERY NEW COVENANT BELIEVER?
- To be a “deliberate Disciple”.
Jesus commanded the Apostles to “make disciples” Matt. 28:18-20 so therefore every person who becomes a Believer, it is “first & foremost” the will of God for them to deliberately become a Disciple, that is: letting someone walk with them (for as long as it takes) for them so that being a Christian is truly a lifestyle.
2.To become a Disciple-Maker/Mentor.
The goal of Biblical Discipleship is not only to grow “disciples” but “to grow Disciple-Makers”. Paul writing to Timothy in 2 Tim. 2:2 NKJV And the things that you have heard from me among many witnesses, commit these to faithful men who will be able to teach others also.
THE WILL OF GOD IS ALL ABOUT REPRODUCTION
I sincerely do not believe Discipleship and Disciple- Making is just for “specialists” but it is the will of God for every believer, sadly it is such a neglected truth the few that do talk about it and do it seem to stand out as “specialists”!!!!!!
LET US GET BACK TO THE WORD AND LET THE HOLY SPIRIT WRITE THIS TRUTH ON OUR HEARTS AMEN.
3. To live a holy life is the will of God for every Believer.
The writer of the book of Hebrews tells us in Heb. 12:14 PASSION Bible In every relationship be swift to choose peace over competition, and run swiftly toward holiness, for those who are not holy will not see God. We have no excuse as Peter tells us in 2 Peter 1:4 NKJV by which have been given to us exceedingly great and precious promises, that through these you may be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust. The PASSION Bible says As a result of this, he has given you magnificent promises that are beyond all price, so that through the power of these tremendous promises you can experience partnership with the divine nature, by which you have escaped the corrupt desires that are of the world.
God’s DNA has been implanted within us when we were born again, and as we co-operate (and “partner with the divine nature”) we can live holy lives.
These three above i would suggest is the will of God for every Believer, and of course flowing out of these three many other things in the Word of God will become clear to us what is His will for our lives.
Sadly, so often when Christians think about doing the will of God their thinking immediately moves towards MINISTRY, please do not see these three above as “ministry” but the simple outworking FOR EVERY BELIEVER when they are born again.
The time will come when your “Mentor” will talk to you about “Ministry” and he will help you discern, and for you to see what God is calling you to do in “ministry”. Some are called to the “five-fold ministry” Eph. 4:11PASSION Bible And he has appointed some with grace to be apostles, and some with grace to be prophets, and some with grace to be evangelists, and some with grace to be pastors, and some with grace to be teachers.
Some may be called to formally serve as a Deacon in the church, the meaning in the Greek is simply to serve (to wait on others). Every Believer should have a “deacon spirit” and be willing to serve anywhere and do anything to assist God’s people and seek to extend His Kingdom.
The “list” of “ministries” is endless, but let us MAKE THE THREE LISTED ABOVE AS OUR NUMBER ONE PRIORTIES, and everything else will simply flow from them.
By God’s grace let us be:
A DELIBERATE DISCIPLE
SEEK TO BECOME A DISCIPLE-MAKER
LIVE A HOLY LIFE.
