GETTING ENROLLED IN GOD'S ACADEMY (Lenten14)

By John Ollis

Perhaps, I should have said at the very start of Lent that we need to make a decision to deliberately set aside time DAILY so that we get the full benefit within our lives of the fruits of REFECTION, REPENTANCE & FASTING.
There are numerous pictures in the Word of God describing us in different ways.
When we are born again, we are enlisted into God’s army to become a skilful soldier.
Again, when we are born again, we are invited into God’s ACADEMY OF LEARNING to become a life long student.
For quite a number of years in the latter part of my public ministry, I had the awesome privilege of conducting INTENSIVES teaching the Word of God throughout Asia and Eastern Europe. They were usually for at least a week and often involved 30+ lectures.

I WANT YOU TO CONSIDER A STUDY INTENSIVE DURING LENT.

We all know the words of Paul to his Disciple/Spiritual son Timothy in 2 Tim.2:15 AMP.N.T. STUDY and be eager and do your utmost to present yourself to God approved (tested by trial), a workman who has no cause to be ashamed, correctly analyzing and accurately dividing [rightly handling and skillfully teaching] the Word of Truth.
The word study means much more than just academic excellence, but undoubtably includes the area of study and especially the Word of God. I have written previously that when we are born again something special happens on the inside, we receive an internal tutor The Holy Spirit, John 16:13 NLT When the Spirit of truth comes, he will guide you into all truth. He will not speak on his own but will tell you what he has heard. He will tell you about the future.
The MESSAGE says But when the Friend comes, the Spirit of the Truth, he will take you by the hand and guide you into all the truth there is. He won’t draw attention to himself, but will make sense out of what is about to happen and, indeed, out of all that I have done and said.
God promises us in Psalm 32:8 NKJV I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will guide you with my eye.
Let us pray King David’s prayer in Psalm 25:4 NKJV Show me Your ways, O Lord;
TEACH me Your paths. LET GOD TAKE YOU BY THE HAND AND LEAD YOU INTO ALL TRUTH AMEN.
Let us set aside quality time during Lent to ask and expect the Holy Spirit it teach us.
There are so many areas that we need the Holy Spirit to teach us, let me list a few:

  • Paths Psalm 25:4
  • Truths Psalm 32:8
  • The fear of the Lord Psalm 34:11
  • To number our days Psalm 90:12
  • Good judgement and knowledge Psalm 119:66
  • To do God’s will Psalm 143:10
  •  To Pray Luke 11:1

Let me suggest you choose a Book of the Bible e.g. Romans, choose a good translation and slowly mediate on each verse (do not hurry), and remember ask the Holy Spirit to “Turn the Light on” if you have other good translations look at the verse there, and EXPECT THE LORD TO TEACH YOU.
I believe I can guarantee on the basis of God’s Word you will be CHANGED FOREVER if you will do this, my word to you is simply this.

LET THE WORD WORK
