ARE YOU ANOINTED WITH FRESH OIL?(Lenten 16)

There were many aspects to the Prophet Isaiah’s ministry, but the one that stands out is that He was THE CHRIST-HARBINGER, the Prophet who loudly proclaimed the coming of the Messiah. There are so many references in his book to the Messianic King, and the Suffering Saviour. The verses I want to highlight today are  simply so profound 61:1-2 NLT
The Spirit of the Sovereign Lord is upon me,
for the Lord has anointed me
to bring good news to the poor.
He has sent me to comfort the brokenhearted
and to proclaim that captives will be released
and prisoners will be freed.
He has sent me to tell those who mourn
that the time of the Lord’s favor has come,
and with it, the day of God’s anger against their enemies.
We read in Luke 4:18-9 AMP.N.T. that Jesus was handed the scroll that also contained these words. “And there was handed to Him [the roll of] the book of the prophet Isaiah. He opened (unrolled) the book and found the place where it was written,
The Spirit of the Lord [is] upon Me, because He has ANOINTED Me [the Anointed One, the Messiah] to PREACH the good news (the Gospel) to the poor; He has sent Me to announce RELEASE to the captives and RECOVERY of sight to the blind, to send forth as DELIVERED those who are oppressed [who are downtrodden, bruised, crushed, and broken down by calamity],
To PROCLAIM the accepted and acceptable year of the Lord [the day when salvation and the free favors of God profusely abound].

JESUS PUBLICLY DECLARED HIS MISSION & MINISTRY TO THE PEOPLE.

He then makes the statement in v21
NLT “The Scripture you’ve just heard has been fulfilled this very day!”
Jesus declares that There is an ANOINTING resting on Him, that will be seen in

• His Preaching & Proclaiming
•  His Ministry to set people free
•  His Ministry to Recover & Restore
•  His Ministry of Deliverence 

Throughout the Gospels we see this Ministry fulfilled continually in the life of Jesus.

JESUS WANTS THIS MINISTRY TO CONTINUE THROUGH EVERY GENERATION THROUGH HIS DISCIPLES UNTIL HE RETURNS

We read in John 14:12-14 NLT, these exciting verses.
I tell you the truth, anyone who BELIEVES IN ME will do the SAME works I have done, and even GREATER works, because I am going to be with the Father. You can ask for ANYTHING IN MY NAME, and I will do it, so that the Son can bring glory to the Father. Yes, ask me for anything IN MY NAME, and I will do it!
We also read in Mark 16:17-18 NKJV And these signs will FOLLOW those who believe: IN MY NAME they will cast out demons; they will speak with new tongues; they will take up serpents; and if they drink anything deadly, it will by no means hurt them; they will lay hands on the sick and they shall recover
The Apostle John reminds us in 1 John 2:20+27 AMP.N.T. But you have been anointed by [you hold a sacred appointment from, you have been given an unction from] the Holy One, and you all know [the Truth] or you know all things. v:27 But as for you, the anointing (the sacred appointment, the unction) which you received from Him abides [permanently] in you; [so] then you have no need that anyone should instruct you. But just as His anointing teaches you concerning everything and is true and is no falsehood, so you must abide in (live in, never depart from) Him [being rooted in Him, knit to Him], just as [His anointing] has taught you [to do].

ALL THIS IS PROMISED TO US IF WE DO WHAT THE WORD SAYS

The moment we were born again the Holy Spirit came into our lives, and it is God’s plan that he is not just resident but PRESIDENT so we have  to live the LIFE OF SURRENDER, AND LET THE HOLY SPIRIT FILL THE HOUSE (OUR BODY) EVERY DAY.
Lent is such an opportunity for us to reflect on all that is available to us through the death and resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ, but our inheritance is not just for us to enjoy but it is to be given TO A LOST AND DYING WORLD.
Paul tells us in Eph. 5:18 AMP.N.T.  WE MUST LEARN TO BE  “ever be filled and stimulated with the [Holy] Spirit.”
Let us echo with the Psalmist in 92:10 AMP.N.T.  I AM ANOINTED WITH FRESH OIL Not a past experience but an ever present experience, as we walk in surrender to the Lord.

WE MUST STAY UNDER THE SPOUT WHERE THE GLORY (OIL) COMES OUT.

So, may I ask you some questions?

• Do you realise you have been delegated the right and been given authority by the Lord  to use THE NAME OF JESUS against every negative situation? John 14, Mark 16
•  Do you believe you have received an anointing from God to do what we read in Luke 4:18-19 and Mark 16:15-17? 1 John 2:20+27
•  Are you learning to live THE SPIRIT FILLED LIFE? Eph.5:18
•  Do you have a prayer language and pray in tongues every day? Mark 16:17
•  Do you recognise those around you who as we read in Luke 4:19 AMP N.T. who are OPPRESSED, DOWNTRODDEN, BRUISED CRUSHED AND BROKEN DOWN BY CALAMITY?

LET US SEE THE CAPTIVE SET FREE BY THE POWER OF GOD WORKING THROUGH US.

Many Believers need to have that 12 inch drop from head to heart, FROM SIMPLY INFORMATION TO REVELATION. 
Lent is the awesome opportunity as we reflect on the Word of God, and perhaps even needing to repent so that we become Men and women who truly FULFIL THE PURPOSES OF gOD IN OUR GENERATION AMEN.
