STILL IN THE POTTER'S HAND (Lenten 27)

By John Ollis

I have come to see over these past few weeks, just how important REFLECTION is, we need to regularly SLOW DOWN AND SMELL THE ROSES. Most Christians I know (including myself, seem to feel guilty if we are not busy ALL THE TIME going about doing the Father’s business. We can start to the develop the mentality that Jesus can’t do without me, and if I don’t do it then it may not get done!!!! I am coming to see this is one of the “wiles” of the evil one to in reality think we are just “so busy working for the Lord”” but it can be as if we are on a “Rocking Horse” lots of activity, but often very little movement going forward and so we can get so frustrated with our lack of effectiveness..
Hear God speak to us in Psalm 46:10, look at some of the translations:
NKJV Be STILL, and know that I am God;
I will be exalted among the nations,
I will be exalted in the earth!
PASSION SURRENDER YOUR ANXIETY,
BE SILENT AND STOP YOUR STRIVING and you will see that I am God.
I am the God above all the nations,
MESSAGE “STEP OUT OF THE TRAFFIC! Take a long,
loving look at ME, your High God,
above politics, above everything.”
BE STILL
SURRENDER YOUR ANXIETY AND STOP YOUR STRIVING
STEP OUT OF THE TRAFFIC

Thank God for our Church Fathers who recognised this problem, and developed regular opportunities in the church calendar for us to step out of the “rat race” and sit still and reflect, and if needs be repent and fast and re-align our focus.

When we learn to sit still, this gives the Lord such am opportunity to do a work of Grace in our lives, and for us to appropriate and experience afresh during this Lenten journey more of our inheritance that was obtained for us through the death and resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ.
As we learn to “be still” and hear God speak to us, from time to time He may say to us “I INVITE YOU TO STEP ONTO THE POTTER’S WHEEL”. God has got our attention and the Holy Spirit wants to  highlight areas in our life that need to change, that REQUIRES THE POTTER’S HAND TO SHAPE AND MOLD US INTO A VESSEL OF HONOUR 2 Tim. 2;21 PASSION for you are to be a pure  (vessel)container of Christ and dedicated to the honorable purposes of your Master, prepared for every good work that he gives you to do.
Let us respond to the Potter’s hands and declare that this Lenten journey will be life changing, and by the grace of God I WILL NEVER BE THE SAME AGAN AMEN.
