HAVING THE CHARACTER OF JESUS Lenten 26)

By John Ollis

I wrote over the weekend about the  great need for God’s people  to lay hold of their authority they have IN THE NAME OF JESUS and start to believe God’s Word about signs following their ministry. There is no doubt that in some Pentecostal circles there has been too much emphasis on “CHARISMA” in the past, so the human reaction is “To throw the baby (the awesome truth) out with the dirty bathwater. If ever there was a time when we needed to see the power of God working through His people it is NOW.
So, let me encourage you to re-read that blog and meditate on those verses I have included there.
The title of my blog was about maintaining balance between CHARISMA & CHARACTER, as Believers we have to work hard at seeking and maintaining balance in every aspect of our Christian walk. Pastorally, my burden to encourage you to work on both areas but especially your walk with God. We are living in a day in the Church where standards of behaviour and lifestyle have drifted away from the Biblical pattern, and there are so many little compromises and excuses made about this.
My verse for us to consider today is Matt. 6:33 I will give it to you in various translations.
AMP.N.T. But SEEK (aim at and strive after) FIRST of all His kingdom and His righteousness (His way of doing and being right), and then all these things taken together will be given you besides.
NLT SEEK the Kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously, and he will give you everything you need.
MESSAGE Steep your life in God-reality, God-initiative, God-provisions. Don’t worry about missing out. You’ll find all your everyday human concerns will be met.
PASSION So above all, CONSTANTLY after the realm of God’s kingdom and the righteousness that proceeds from him. Then all these less important things will be given to you abundantly.
Jesus tells us, that OUR FIRST PRIORITY  must be to SEEK THE RULE OF THE KING IN OUR LIVES EVERY DAY.
We sure need to know What are the requirements of the king  for us, so we must spend quality time in the Word, so we truly know what KINGDOM LIFESTYLE  is all about, and it is primarily all about CHRISTIAN CHARACTER.
This Lenten journey is all about re-assessing our walk with the Lord, and meditating on the finished work of Christ through His death and resurrection, plus His unfinished work, that He ever lives to make intercession for us..
Let this be your prayer:

I WANT TO BE LIKE JESUS IN THOUGHT AND WORD AND ACTION
