A HORIZONTAL ENEMY

By John Ollis

I spent much time recently writing about our vertical enemy, namely the devil and his angels. I read a verse today that reminded me we can have enemies on the horizontal, The Prophet Isaiah tells us in Is. 54:17 NKJV NO weapon formed against you shall prosper,
And EVERY tongue which rises against you in judgment
You shall condemn.
This is the HERITAGE of the servants of the Lord,
And their righteousness is from Me,”

NLT No weapon turned against you will SUCCEED.
You will silence every voice
raised up to accuse you.
These benefits are enjoyed by the servants of the Lord;
their vindication will come from me.
I, the Lord, have spoken!

MESSAGE But no weapon that can hurt you has ever been forged.
Any accuser who takes you to court
will be DISMISSED AS A LIAR.
This is what God’s servants can expect.
I’ll see to it that everything works out for the best.”
God’s Decree.

I guess the devil can and does work through humans beings seeking to attack us well as on the vertical, but we instantly see the human source when it comes to us on the horizontal.

The Prophet tells us this is another awesome part of our inheritance purchased for us, it doesn’t say we won’t be attacked as we sure will be, but, WE CAN WIN EVERY TIME. I am so glad our God IS ALWAYS TRUE TO HIS NAME, HIS NATURE AND HIS PROMISES.

Sadly, these accusations will comes sometimes from Christian brothers and sisters, and our challenge is to let the agape love of God keep flowing through us (Rom.5:5), and there may times we may have to speak the truth in love (Eph:4:15) to that person. There may be other times when we remain silent and LET GOD BE THE VINDICATOR.

I love that statement that says “when the devil accuses you tell him God has dropped charges”. The MESSAGE Bible statement so relates “The accuser will be dismissed as a liar hallelujah.

I guess we will all go through life having horizontal attacks from time to time, and God through the Prophet guarantees us complete success. As we are humans with emotions, the accusations can be hurtful, but we must never let unforgiveness find a place in our hearts, ever remember IN EVERY SITUATION HIS GRACE IS SUFFICIENT.

I will conclude this simple blog by highlighting 1 John 1:7 AMP. N.T. But if we [really] are living and walking in the Light, as He [Himself] is in the Light, we have [true, unbroken] fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses (removes) us from all sin and guilt [keeps us cleansed from sin in all its forms and manifestations].

PASSION But if we keep living in the pure light that surrounds him, we share unbroken fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus, his Son, continually cleanses us from all sin.

As we live and walk in the light of God’s Word, and our conscience, we continue to be under the blood of the Lord Jesus Christ, and ever experience3 it cleansing and protection amen.
