GOD’S WORD-THE BIBLE (1)

By John Ollis

I want to ask you a personal question at the very start of this blog, and be assured I am asking myself the same question at the same time. This aspect of truth I will be sharing will most definitely develop into a series of blogs , I have touched on the truth many many times, as it is the most important FOUNDATIONAL TRUTH for us as Believers.

HOW IMPORTANT IS THE WORD OF GOD TO YOU?

Your answer will be reflected in how much time you spend in the Word of God.

Do you spend time in the Word of God DAILY ?

Have you learnt to MEDITATE on the Bible as well as reading it?

In comparison how much time do you spend in “social media” every day?

Do you spend time daily playing computer games?

Are you convinced that the Bible is totally unique as a book? Or do you see it as a great book like the Koran, or in the category of good writings like Shakespeare?

Did you know there are 66 books in the Bible, with more than 40 human authors, written over a period of 1500 years, primarily in Hebrew, Greek and some Aramaic.

Out attitude and response to the question and to the Bible will be a reflection of our relationship with the God of the Book.

DID YOU KNOW?

The Scriptures satisfy its every claim:

  1. By Enduring

2. By Saving Power

3. By Sanctifying Power

4. By its claim to be a Revelation

5. By its Accuracy

6. By its Prevailing Power

7. By its Prophecy.

So, there is something very unique about the Bible, Paul writing to his spiritual son says in 1 Tim. 3:16-17 AMP. N.T. Every Scripture is God-breathed (given by His inspiration) and profitable for instruction, for reproof and conviction of sin, for correction of error and discipline in obedience, [and] for training in righteousness (in holy living, in conformity to God’s will in thought, purpose, and action),
So that the man of God may be complete and proficient, well fitted and thoroughly equipped for every good work

PASSION Every Scripture has been written by the Holy Spirit, the breath of God. It will empower you by its instruction and correction, giving you the strength to take the right direction and lead you deeper into the path of godliness. Then you will be God’s servant, fully mature and perfectly prepared to fulfill any assignment God gives you.

MESSAGE Every part of Scripture is God-breathed and useful one way or another—showing us truth, exposing our rebellion, correcting our mistakes, training us to live God’s way. Through the Word we are put together and shaped up for the tasks God has for us.

God’s very breath is in the Bible, every sentence, every chapter, every book. That is why it is unique and special and we must come to see that every time we open the Bible we should expect God to speak to us.

SO, HOW IMPORTANT IS THE WORD OF GOD TO YOU/

The Bible records many pictures of itself, and we will look at these in the coming days.
