GOD’S WORD -THE BIBLE (7)
We now come to another exciting symbol of the Word of God. The Bible speaks of itself as WATER It is life -giving, refreshing, and a cleansing agent.
The Apostle Paul in Eph. 5:26 NKJV tells us That He might sanctify and cleanse her (The Church) with the washing of WATER by the WORD.
PASSION to make us holy and pure, cleansing us through the SHOWERING of the pure water of the Word of God.
Interestingly, the Greek word Paul uses here, for word is RHEMA, when the Word of God is quickened to us and becomes alive, and we respond to it, it will have an awesome cleansing sanctifying ministry to our lives.
In Psalm 100 King David, encourages us to enter the Gates with Thanksgiving, the first thing we see is the Brazen Laver, where the animals were killed and their blood shed, then we see the Brazen Laver where the Priests, would put their hands and feet in front of the mirrors that were built into the Laver, to see how grubby their hands and feet were, and then wash their hands and feet in the Laver before they went into the Holy Place to minister unto the Lord.
It is an exciting picture of coming to Christ and being washed in Hid blood, and then the constant need to let the Word of God continue to sanctify us.
Jesus speaks of the cleansing ministry of the Word of God in John 15:3 The words I have spoken over you have already cleansed you. & 17:17. Sanctify them by Your truth. Your word is truth.
We know Psalm 119 is THE PSALM OF THE WORD, the Psalmist asks a question in verse 9 NKJV “How can a young man stay pure”? and then goes on and answers his own question, “Only by living in the word of God and walking in its truth”.
Just as water is life-giving and refreshing, spend quality time daily searching it pages doing the Berean “thing” Acts 17:11 NKJV They found that the Jews of Berea were of more noble character and much more open minded than those of Thessalonica. They were hungry to learn and eagerly received the word. Every day they opened the scrolls of Scripture to search and examine them, to verify that what Paul taught them was true.
YOUR SPIRIT WILL BE REFRESHED EVERY TIME
Every time you open the Bible see it as a PLACE OF CLEANSING AND SANCTIFYING, you will always come away CLEAN. amen
